Happy 2018!

Please use this thread to post or to follow Economy Fares which are 'Good Deals' but where the cost per mile is more than 3-4 cents per mile, which is the usual upper limit for what is considered a true 'MR Deal'.

A few requests for posting in the thread:
  • When posting 'Good deals' fares: please post the city pairs/airport codes and pricing in the body of the post and not just in the post title as it isn't visible for those reading it on mobile devices.
  • Note that you can subscribe to this thread: go to "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread and click on "Subscribe to this thread".
  • This is not a fare request thread. Any fare requests will be deleted.
  • This is not a how to book a fare thread.

UA - ORD - SEA for $139 USD in Economy [4 CPM]

Not the best MR deal but seems to have wide availability including quick turns:

AA: DEN-CDG ~$487 in April

Seeing a few dates in April for r/t DEN-CDG on AA and partners for $487, I'd say they're competing with Norwegian. Looks like it requires a 7 day stay or so but if somebody wants a vacation, this seems like a good fare and it's not basic economy from what I can tell.

Keep in mind that Primera has not started service yet, and that their service depends upon yet-to-be-delivered A321neos. As of right now, I'm not sure which flavor of A321neo they're getting from Aercap, so they may or may not have a delayed start. (The Pratt and Whitney powered ones seem to be having teething issues, as Spirit and Hawaiian Airlines have learned the hard way)

They are a ULCC, and from what I've seen on their website, I'd expect the service to be somewhere between Easyjet and Wow Air.

If you just need to get between Charlotte and Phoenix and can put up with basic economy, United is selling $107 roundtrip fares in both directions for Tuesday and Saturday departures. Unfortunately the fee to upgrade these fares to main cabin is really steep at over $300 bringing the cheapest main cabin fares to $413 roundtrip with United. Stick to Delta for Main Cabin fares at $295 roundtrip.

UA - CLT to PHX (or PHX-CLT) for $107 roundtrip Basic Economy

AC *one way* between ORD and SHA - under $390, wide open in June and other times. Good if you need a cheap one way ticket. Round trip $650 or so.

AA : MCO -> OGG for $374 [3.9 CPM]:

https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...-DFWMCO1AA2255

Also possible out of select Canadian cities for ~$500CAD:

AC/UA : YYZ -> HNL (same day turn for miles) $518 CAD:
https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...6-SFOYYZ1AC758

DL : YUL -> OGG - $545 CAD:
https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...-DTWYUL1DL6184

Unsure if that would interest people in FL given the good weather they get but if you need a break worth considering.

Safe Travels,

James

$248 rt kef-ewr ac/ua apr-jun

Looks like you can get some really cheap fares out of Iceland this spring/summer on AC/UA. Saw a ton of itineraries pricing out from KEF-EWR for $275 or less pretty consistently from APR-JUN, pricing out on the nonstop too. Also a chance to get a pretty nice layover in Europe on some of these itineraries. Was mostly finding it mostly thru Momondo. Not the greatest fare at 4.7 CPM but still better than having to pay for a bag on WoW or IcelandAir.

DL ORD-GTF $160 (BE), $210 regular econ

Great Falls, MT. Great deal. Works over the summer. Only problem is very short connections. Didn't want to risk it traveling with kids.

YUL -> HNL - $562 CAD on UA [~10000 miles earned]

Spotted this sale UA is running between YUL and HNL:

https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...-ORDYUL1UA4688

What's nice about the deal is you can book this for travel pretty soon (in my example the outbound in Mar 13) - great if you want to escape the slush and misery of Montreal winter. In addition, this itinerary is simple: one connection in ORD each way. On a pure CPM basis it's not great (looking at 5.6 CAD CPM / 4.3 USD CPM) but you are racking up a decent amount of miles (along with collecting the 4 UA metal segments needed to lock in premier ).

Safe Travels,

James

I think I found a fare that gives Wow a run for their money on the route YYZ -> DUB for $415 CAD on Air Lingus:
https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...YYZ0EI129;a=EI

Seems to work for select dates in April. Half tempted to book it but the BA website states that I won't earn any Tier Points flying Air Lingus (I thought BA owns them?). What's the best strategy for banking points for this flight?

Safe Travels,

James

It's actually the hoiding company that owns them and the others.

And yes, in this brave new world more and more airlines offer ZERO miles for low fares - one of the ways they compete with LCCs @:-)
