Happy 2018!
Please use this thread to post or to follow Economy Fares which are 'Good Deals' but where the cost per mile is more than 3-4 cents per mile, which is the usual upper limit for what is considered a true 'MR Deal'.

Now that I've booked my flight with UA I thought I'd let the cat out of the bag on a few deals I found out of YOW:
I should not that while YOW -> HKG isn't the craziest MR deal I've encountered for TPAC flights it's important to note that this is coming out of YOW, an airport not known for international fare deals. Also, the segments are operated on UA and NH metal which is significantly better than the 777 AC operates to many Asian destinations.
Safe Travels,
James
- YOW -> HKG on UA for $838 CAD (earns approx 18,000 PQM so good deal if you're looking to hit Silver/Gold mid-year). Dates seem fairly flexible for May/June and it's possible on some days to get a red eye back from HKG where you have a 11 hour layover in Tokyo!
- YOW -> SIN on UA for $798 CAD (earns approx 21,000 PQM which almost nabs you UA Silver on just this trip!). Dates seem fairly flexible as well. This deal works well on extremely limited dates out of YYZ for $799 CAD and out of the aviation capital of the world, YUL for $793 CAD

For Canadians willing to put up with ULCC nonsense, the new (Believe not yet flying) Flair Air has some cheap flights, including YVR-YYC for C$50.
Very few routes, and it looks like YEG is the focus city, not sure if it could be considered a hub. Seat selection and anything over (IIRC) 7Kg personal item is extra.

Thanksgiving in Paris, not dirt cheap but less than half the price of Delta on the same plane. MSP - CDG nonstop, 11/17 - 11/25 booked on Air France, operated by Delta for $689. Icelandair has the same price via KEF, Delta charges $1400 or more for the nonstop.

You did really well. The best I can find now for any date in that general area is $830 ($415 each way). Still not bad, but yours is definitely better.

The whole fare to Europe is very strange - some gateways are much cheaper than others. For example, for LHR, LAX and SFO are much cheaper than PHX or DEN. So, playing around with the US gateway cities will help. Of course, the challenge is how you get to/from the gateway cities - especially on a busy week like Thanksgiving...

Found this deal on Secretflying: Montreal (YUL) or Toronto (YYZ) to Nairobi Kenya (NBO) with only 1 layover each way in New York City for only $725/$735 CDN ($558/$566 USD) roundtrip.
Only available for certain date combinations from October to February.
The YUL/YYZ to LGA leg is on American Airlines while the JFK to NBO leg is on Kenya Airways. According to One Mile at a Time blog the JFK-NBO route is a brand new route that starts up in October:https://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2018/01/10/kenya-airways-new-york-flight-2018/
What sucks though, according to ITA Matrix, the Kenya Aiirways segments book into V class. For those that are Skymiles members, Delta doesn’t have V class listed so it appears this won’t earn any miles. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
