I think I'm going to roll the dice. I'll fly LIT-ATL-MCO, arriving at 11:05 AM. The flight from MCO-ATL-AMS-IST leaves at 1:00 PM so hopefully we'll be on time.
On the return, I'm scheduled back in to MCO at 2:30 PM and will book the 6:00 PM flight from MCO-ATL-LIT. With any luck we'll be on time or early and I can SDC.
One question - If I check a bag, would I need to claim luggage in MCO and recheck for the other itin? I'm pretty sure I'll just take a carry-on but just wondering.

If you were to try, I'd do it at ATL when rechecking bags after customs. Make sure to have a copy of the reservation so you can double check the agent got all the flight #'s right.
If it doesn't work, you'll have more than enough time at MCO to recheck.

I booked ORD-IST-ORD for 11/29 - 12/2 to keep my DL PM status for next year. I had plans that had me in ORD that week already but now those plans have changed. Am I violating any policies by booking LIT-ORD on 11/29 and ORD-LIT on 12/2 as a separate trip? I don't want to risk having either trip cancelled by DL.
I'm doing it from JFK on 11/30-12/2.
Are you on the early morning flight to AMS on the 2nd?

How safe is it to do this alone? I'm a 23 year old guy.
I'm considering a trip consisting of ORD-ZUR-IST-FRA-ORD with a 22 hour layover in Zurich and a 20 hour layover in Frankfort.
Dec 6-13th
Would 22 hours in Zurich and 20 hours in Frankfort allow me to do any exploring of those cities? I'd probably be sleeping 6-7 hours and want to see as much as I can. Or would I be better off spending all 6 days in Istanbul?

Also, how do miles work?
It would be on Swiss airlines on the way out and then United on the way back (all UA elgible)
It seems like it would be O'Hare Intl Arpt, Chicago, IL (ORD) to
Zurich Airport, Zurich, CH (ZRH) to
Ataturk Arpt, Istanbul, TR (IST) to
Frankfurt Intl, Frankfurt, DE (FRA) to
O'Hare Intl Arpt, Chicago, IL (ORD)
One Way Distances:
Distance 11010 miles 17720 km
Round trip:
Distance 22020 miles 35440 km
So is that actually 22,000 miles?
If so, this would make my Boston trip free in the spring

I don't know if anyone would want to take this but while looking for more miles with UA I found DL ORD-MEM-IAH-CDG-IST-AMS-IAH-MEM-ORD for $582.80 at Orbitz on Dec. 6-10.
14,820 miles at $0.039/MQM if you're an elite, and just a little bit less if you're not. You have to leave IST at 5:55 am and 3 of the flights to/from MEM are on CRJs.

I would say that it is quite safe. I'm female, and I have traveled to Istanbul a number of times throughout my thirties (sometimes alone, sometimes not). Istanbul is an awesome city, and not dangerous. The most for which you have to watch out are the common scams - invitations to come drinking with new buddies, and then the bill is inflated, stuff like that. (Which is a shame, because you might make actual friends who invite you out for a drink, and you just have to use your internal scam detector to guess what is sincere and what is not.)
