Be careful
Looking at the inventory for late November/Early December from ORD, the return flight is indeed on LX K class which doesn't earn UA EQMs, so it would be a worthless MR (for me at least). It's $611 to fly on all UA, vs. $523 to fly on UA/LX.

Very true, although getting miles credited is still a hassle with LX and TK in my experience and involves spending extended time with a mileage plus rep. This is not the case with LH in my experience.

We purchased three round trip tickets ORD-IST. We visit IST often but were not able to go earlier in the year. We would not have had enough miles to maintain our status with Delta, so we decided to take advantage of this rate. We had a bit of difficulty finding the inexpensive flights through the month of November, but we were eventually successful.
I highly recommend the Sirkeci Konak. It is a great Turkish-style hotel. There are dozens of things to do. It is an amazing city.

I can recommend Faros Sirkeci. Great staff, very good breakfast, excellent location just next to the tram stop, short walking distance to most major tourist attractions. The restaurant seems to be a destination for non-guests too.

Of the 2 mentioned I recommend DBL Tree in Old Town, nice location to things you'll want to see your first time in IST. It is close to transportation and great service. Location will be closer to most sites you will want to see on your first trip to IST.

The perennial IST fare is back today on KL w/DL code shares or for a few $ less on LX. Travel between Jan 21 and Feb 28. Book before Oct 26th unless they pull it sooner.
