Hello All, I am new to LNFs and to Marriot (though have had a few successes with BRGs). I am currently looking at going for the Marriott gold challenge, so am looking at taking a quick break in a Marriott resort next week, then finishing the challenge with a trip to HK in a couple of months.

Anyway, down to business. Can anyone give me any suggestions for getting good rates at the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa for August 3rd to 6th. The standard rate is 4900 THB for DLX Premier Garden/ 5500 THB for the DLX Premier Sea View. There is also a 3 for 2 deal that would make the first three nights 10400 THB/ 11600 THB. I have looked at a few sites, though most of them are more expensive than the standard rate, and some of them also have different cancellation rules.

Thanks, your help is appreciated.

are you looking at the Hollywood Beach Marriott in Florida, or other?
is the $125 rate cited an Advance Pay?
does this rate change at anytime through the week?

Hi guys, I am attending a conference at downtown Phoenix, from October 13 to 17. The hotel that I am looking for is Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel. I can book a room from the conference website for $200 per night, but the same room is available on Marriott for $300+tax. I have a Marriott Chase card and like to book directly from Marriott for the bonus points. Is there any way I have them to match the $200?

Thanks

What am I missing? Why don't you book the room through the conference website and be done with it?

Because I want the points too. If I book through the conference website and pay with my Marriott credit card it won't give me the 5x points on Marriott purchases!

Really? I'm sitting in the CL of the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront as I type this on a reservation that was booked through a conference. I have received every benefit typically afforded to a Gold Elite member including an upgraded corner room overlooking the harbor. Upon checkin, the FDC even welcomed me as an elite member and noted that my MR# was on file. I also paid with my MR Visa and have no reason to believe that my points won't be awarded as usual. But perhaps I'm wrong of this one component? **shrug**

Maybe I'm missing something here. Is the conference website part of the Marriott website or a third party website? If it's their own official website, I'm not sure if they will match it against themselves. If it's a third party website, is that rate publicly available to everyone? If not, it won't qualify.

Looking for an LNF rate for the Cosmopolitan in Vegas. August 9-12th (3 nights) for their Wraparound Terrace Suite. I have found some cheaper rates but was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some more sites/places to look (looking for a total rate under 1k if possible).

since the WTS changes rates over your period from $320 to $790 to $785, are you looking for under $1000, including taxes, as com pared to the $2122.40 on Marriott.com?

Call the hotel directly and ask. They may or may not.

You haven't explained: Do you prepay when you book through the conference site, or do you pay at the hotel? If you prepay, you are right, you won't get 5x points on the Marriot Chase card, because it'll come through as a charge to the conference site, not to a Marriott hotel. If the conference site does not take prepayment, but simply books the hotel for you (takes your credit card number but simply forwards it to the hotel), you'll still be paying the hotel (just at a conference rate), and the Marriott Chase points will still be 5x.

If you haven't yet, you need to look carefully at the booking rules on the conference site to determine who bills your card when.
