Wow that is quite expensive for albuquerque. what are the dates?
This forum has a thread for help finding LNF rates (where you post dates and locations and people often can offer help via PM) :
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-lnf-rate.html
The cancel policies have to be the same, and the rates have to be publicly available, so the questions is whether kayak has room w/ cancellation policy for less than marrott.com @ $219. The marriott rewards offer rate is not public, so you can't use that in the LNF. That actually helps you since it makes a higher public rate the basis for comparison. You can also book a non-refundable rate on marriott.com (sounds like it's not available) and use the kayak non-refundable rate, but that's a risk that I wouldn't take unless you understand the LNF completely because if you get denied, you are stuck.
As marineflyer says, it's possible they'd approve it (I've found they sometimes don't read all that closely). No risk to you if the marriott.com rate is refundable. If you are denied, just cancel, and rebook later (to reset the 24 hour window) and try again.
I always thought hotels knew how to game the system a bit - if they let all the 3rd party sites have cheaper rates with only advance payment, and marriott.com only has refundable rates, that effectively skirts the rules. But if people are regularly getting those approved, maybe it's time to start trying!

I dunno what the OPs dates are, but certainly the annual AIBF (Albuquerque International Balloon Festival) in the fall can raise rates quite a bit.
This forum also already has a thread for basic questions on LNFs:

I was looking for a room in ABQ and see Pyramid north for $210. That is the lowest rate except for $178 Marriott rewards offer. No non cancelable rates are offered. Kayak has same room for $100 on a non refundable rate.
As far as I can tell since cancel policies are different there is no way to take advantage of this fact. In fact there is no way to pay $100 and also earn points.
Anything I can do? Not willing to stay without points and not willing to pay $178.

I will try booking refundable rate at marriott.com and request LNF against $100 non-refundable kayak rate.

Hotel rates in SFO are ridiculous.. would greatly appreciate help in finding an LNF rate for any of the nicer downtown Marriott's. Check-in 9/7 and checkout 9/9. Could also do check in on 9/6 if it helps. TIA

You need to tell us what hotel you wanted to stay at and tell us what at what rate that hotel is on the Marriott website. No one is going to take their own time to help you if you can't even spend time to understand the thread.
