I've never made an LNF request, but I found a lower rate for a Marriott I'm considering in SAN for 4/28-4/30. Marriott's lowest rate is a non refundable AP of $145/nt for a "Deluxe" room with a leisure rate of $149/nt for a "Standard" room. The other sight only offers "Standard" rooms for $110.06/nt and uses prepaid vouchers.

Should this request work, and do I need to reserve the non-refundable Marriott AP rate? I'd hate to get stuck with the $145/nt rate, since this particular Marriott isn't really worth that much.

I decided to reserve the $149/nt rate, submit the form and see what happens. If they don't give it to me and say the $145/nt AP rate would also be ineligible, I guess I'll use my PC Plat status and current Amex $50 back on $250 promo.

They should get back to you well within 24 hours. At marriott.com, you have 24 hours from the time you make the reservation to cancel a non-refundable rate without getting charged.

Ie, at marriott.com, a non-refundable rate is refundable during the first 24 hours, and only becomes non-refundable after 24 hours.

This dovetails nicely into the 24 hour response limit on LNF claims. It gives you time to cancel should your LNF be rejected.

I shall add to the previous response: you only have to reserve the AP rate when comparing to another AP rate. I had a case where I reserved the AP rate (because it was the lowest offered on marriott.com), and was rejected because the rate on the comparison site wasn't AP. So, being within the 24 hours, I cancelled, reserved the Best Available rate, and re-submitted my claim - and was promptly approved.

Just so I'm 100% clear this is always true, even when the rate rules say "Advance Purchase rate, prepay in full, non-refundable, no changes", I know you can cancel other AP rates that use the disclaimer "Advance Purchase rate, prepay in full, non-refundable if cancelled more than 1 day after booking, no changes"?

To make things more interesting the Marriott in question dropped all of its rates in the last few hours, the AP and leisure rates are now $129/$135. Should I make a new Marriott reservation and submit a new LNF request?

Should I click confirm on the new lower AP rates that don't mention an option to cancel within 24 hours of booking and submit a new LNF from that rate to the third party pre-pay rate, despite the Marriott AP being a "Deluxe" room with a bigger TV on a higher floor than non "Deluxe" guest rooms?

My original request was approved 8 hours after I submitted it. $82.54/nt with full Plat benefits and lounge access on the second night/morning. I'm still not 100% sure how LNF requests are supposed to work, but at least I'm set for April.

I'm looking for the Marriott Waikiki for June 17 - 21. The Leisure Rate for a 2 double city view is $224.

Or potentially the Courtyard Waikiki for June 17 - 21. The Best Available rate for a 2 double room is $219. The Advanced Purchase Rate is $186.

I need 2 beds.

I kind of got thrown offtrack by their reclassifying the Courtyard as a Cat 5 instead of a Cat 4. It ruined my plans to use Cat. 1-4 certs for those days (my husbands and mine).

Place Your Request Finding A Lnf Rate

I have a layover at O'Hare Airport on July 26. Looking for a place with good access / shuttle service and thought I'd give the Renaissance Suites a try. But: 209 USD is simply to expensive to sleep and get to the airport around 4:30 a.m. Any chance finding something less expensive for this hotel?
