I decided to reserve the $149/nt rate, submit the form and see what happens. If they don't give it to me
They should get back to you well within 24 hours.
At marriott.com, you have 24 hours from the time you make the reservation to cancel a non-refundable rate without getting charged.
Ie, at marriott.com, a non-refundable rate is refundable during the first 24 hours, and only becomes non-refundable after 24 hours.
This dovetails nicely into the 24 hour response limit on LNF claims. It gives you time to cancel should your LNF be rejected.
