I'm sure it all works, but it just seems a little spooky to me.
Didn't know about the promo until I saw the extra miles post to AA acct.

I first made the reservation and then they transferred me to a different department to order the travel package cert. My reservation was made on 11/26.

I understand that you made the reservation and ordered the travel package in the same phone call, is that right? Otherwise, if you book online under the new rules, the system takes the points from your account directly without a change to redeem the travel package. Anybody knows if you can still redeem travel packages online or it must be done on the phone exclusively?

Travel packages can now only be ordered by calling MR.

Are you sure about that? The website still seems to allow ordering a travel package. From the Marriott Rewards page, if you click on "Order Rewards Certificates", then click on the "Order Award Certificate" link, I am still able to put in a cert number for a travel package, say something like 091. The system then gives me a drop-down box where I can find the airline I want to transfer points to and provide my FF #. (That is as far as I tried as I already ordered mine yesterday via the phone and don't need to order any more.)
