I value BB around $25 each so this is basically a $50 rebate as long as the room rate isn't higher due to the BB promo.

Problems with Premium Pounds/LNF Rate

Hi guys,

I had a four night stay in Bangkok and I used a LNF Rate. During check-out, they told I can't use my two premium pounds coupons because I already use a discounted rate:confused:

I tried to convince them that I should be able to use this coupons, also that the T&Cs say nothing about discounted rates, but they still didn't accept them. In the end, I called marriott directly and they told me the same like the hotel did:mad:

I thought if you use a LNF rate you are still be able to use a coupon, am I wrong?

Another thing happened in Phuket. I had a two night stay with a S4B rate, but also found another rate online and received the LNF rate. At check-inn, they told me I don't have breakfast because I use a discounted rate:mad:

What is wrong with Marriott?

You probably don't like to hear this but I believe that the property was correct.

Did you make the booking using one of the phone numbers listed on the back of the certificate and was the rate that you booked a publicly listed one?

I think holtju2 was asking if the phone number you called was the one on the back of the certificate or the normal Reservation or Elite reservation lines?

I have used Premium Pounds numerous times with a "Look No Further" rate guarantee. I think Marriotts and the property's reasoning is flawed. I always book a "publicly available rate" on Marriott's website then normally find a lower rate elsewhere online and use the "Look No Further" guarantee. Since your original reservation was a "Publicaly Avaible Rate" there is nothing in the T&C's of the Premium Pounds that would disallow their use!

I have been able to use Premium Pounds with a LNF rate in Mexico, Hawaii and Florida.

I would still pursue this.

I agree with ejs621. To be eligible for the LNF guarantee, the rate booked and the cheaper competitor rate must both be 'Publicly Available'. Therefore, they must also be eligible to use with a Premium Pounds coupon. I've used Premium Pounds coupons numerous times with LNF rates in the UK and the Czech Republic with never a hint of a problem.

Glad to see you chime in here Glenn! As far as I am concerned you are the "LNF" expert!!

I got in on this for the rate that was advertised on the promo page. Did a quick check of other rates in the area and found this rate to be very competitive. Looking forward to my upcoming stay.:)

I've used Premium Pounds and Bonus Bucks at Bangkok Riverside. I had always booked by calling the number on the back of the certificate.

What I have personally learned when using these certs that properties outside of the United States are sometimes very strict and by the book. On my recent trip I was turned down at two properties and rightfully so.

You can, however, getaway pretty much anything when you use these in the US.

saschaa Sep 13, 2007 1:12 pm

yes, it was the riverside....

I've called the normal german reservation hotline. But the hotel didn't have a problem with how I've booked, the problem was my "discounted LNF rate"

GlennTheBaker Sep 13, 2007 2:02 pm

The only reason the rate is discounted is because Marriott say they won't be beaten on price and if you find your rate cheaper, they will knock 25% off the cheaper one. The rate is not a negotiated discount or corporate/membership rate so I would fight your corner on this one.
