Wel,, I've documented from Marriott's own web pages the offer I thought I was receiving and unless I'm missing something it had no connection with a VISA promotion.

From everything I've read on the URL I cited in my prior post I believe I should have received a BB with an expiration date 8 months from my checkout (which was on 11/25).

Heralder describes an offer tied to Visa wherein the expiration date of BBs you'd receive would be coincident with the end of the promotion (12/30) regardless of the fact that you could end up stuck with a BB with an expiration date so soon after checkout to make it, from a practical sense, unusable!

I ended up sending a follow-up email to "customer care" referencing the above and providing a link to support what their offer's Ts and Cs actually were with regard to BB expiration dates. In addition I provided the URL that appears in my previous posting in this thread.

Bottom line was that I asked them for a definitive reply (to my original inquiry to them on 11/24) as to how I could exchange the "VISA" BB I received for one with an expiration date that reflects as per their ("M11") ) offer's terms and conditions.

EPILOG

Received a call from the Front Desk Manager apologizing profusely for what happened. She agreed with me as to the T's and C's applicable to my stay and will mail to me a replacement Bonus Buck that will have an expiration date of 8 months from time of issue. (Their front desk was instructed to discontinue issuing bonus bucks that they had on hand -- all with that ridiculously short period prior to their expiration.

BTW I offered to mail the original BB back to her but she told me to keep it in case I had in plans and had an opportunity to use it.

I was first offered 20,000 points, but I told them I wasn't looking for compensation, just stays that were hassle-free and requested that they also might do something on the order of training FD associates on the processing of EEO Free Weekend Night coupons/printouts as I'd never, had an instance where, after submitting one, having to get the final bill corrected.

PS - on a comment card I mentioned that we'd reutrned four water glasses (two from the bathroom, two from the icebucket tray) containing vestiges of lipstick to the front desk. She said that they were aware of it inasmuch as the front desk personnel reported it even before they got to my comment card.

I was told that that was ddressed with housekeeping management and there will be no repetiion.

Bonus Bucks

I will sound naive for a Plat member, but what are Bonus Bucks? Where does one get them and how are they used? Thanks!

Also ignorant...

I've always wondered about Bonus Bucks too. I've never gotten one, seen one in my account, or seen an offer to enroll for one. Thankfully, for the last six months, I have only been eligible for the fabulous Meeting Maker Promo, which is so incredibly valuable for the average road warrior. I sure hope Marriott keeps that as my sole promotion for the next decade or so.

Anyway, I did a search for "bonus bucks" and found this thread.

Bonus Buck Definition

Bonus Bucks (BBs) are just another word for gift certificates that are used at certain Marriott-related hotels that can help reduce the cost of your stay. Think of them also as coupons off the price of your hotel bill. They are treated as cash though.

Usually BBs are issued only when staying at certain Marriott hotels on weekends. When you book your room, you would use the M11 code. Just be sure when you originally book a stay, that you put the code in and check to see if your desired stay comes up as an available rate.

This code, which is based upon availability, would entitle you to receive a $50BB when staying on a Friday or Saturday night or a $100 BB when staying two nights in which one night must be a weekend night. For example, you could book a Thursday/Friday night stay or a Friday/Saturday night stay.

Usually upon checkin or at checkout, the hotel is supposed to issue the BB to you. You can use it on a future 2-night stay.

Hope this helps.

Any way to prolong?

Hi,

I am currently in a dilemma, I have currently two bonus bucks with me which is going to expire 23 Dec. I will be able to use one more just before the expiry date, however, due to my own mistake (did not read earlier that it was ONLY valid at Marriott Hotels , Rennaisance and JW Marriots), I could not use my other one for my recent stay at a Courtyard.

So, now I am stuck with one bonusbucks which will expire soon and I don't have any plans/time to use it before it expires.

Any idea what I should do with it? It is a 100 Euro bonus buck. I was thinking of swapping it with some other coupon, but I guess no one would want it at this late stage.

Thanks.

;)

You could try Coupon Connection. I wouldn't hold out much hope that Marriott would extend the expiration date or allow you to exchange it for one with a future expiration date.

Some people choose to sell them on E-Bay.

I plan to stay at a Renaissance airport hotel (arriving late Friday), get a $100 bonus buck, then use it on my 7 day stay the following day at my regular hotel. Is this doable.

What exclusions do bonus bucks usually have? If I get one at the Renaissance, it can only be used at another Renaissance>

Few quesions about Bonus bucks

Let me know if any the following are not correct

BB's can be applied only to 2 or more night stay.It can be a weekday stay.

$50 BB certs can be used at any Marriott brand hotels, but the $100 BB certs can only be used at Full service Marriotts. not sure about the $25 certs.

We cannot use more than one BB cert on a stay

If we use BB's we get stay credits and also qualify for Mega bonus when paying the balance with VISA. Since they are treated a cash

BB's can only be applied to stays paid at publicly available rates. corporate rates and AAA rates are not valid.

Priceline and other 3rd party rates are not valid for use with BB's

Sorry I looked around and could not find the answers.

Also be aware that BB/PP coupons cannot be used on Advance Purchase Rates.

bump.

There is a current thread regarding all things Bonus Buck-related. It contains all you need to know. Alternatively, do a search for 'Bonus Bucks' and/or 'Premium Pounds'.
