I have seen this more than once. Most of the time, when I have complained, the hotel was able to produce a coupon with a later expiration date. In general, if a hotel staff said they would mail you one with a later expiration date, they will do it, though it may take some prompting by you. I would suggest you write down the person's name you talked with, and also make sure the front desk manager (and possibly even the GM) know what has happened (by email so it is traceable) and what the hotel is commiting to. That way, if you have any trouble later on, no one should be surprised by your follow-up.
BTW, don't let this be your only post. Get on in and participate we love fresh meat, err, fresh ideas. ;) |
I am curious where the OP stayed. I have usually gotten coupons with at least 3 months remaining in my experience with DC metro hotels. My most recent ones have expiration dates in early March 2008.
I am not surprised that some properties do not go through these coupons as often. It costs the hotels money to order additional bonus bucks. |
VA1379 is dead on. I encountered the problem at both the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, VA and the Bethesda Marriott (both are DC Beltway hotels). Bethesda offered the certificate expiring on Sep 30. Also, I didn't realize the hotels were charged when these were ordered - I'd expect the charge would hit when they are redeemed. That is interesting information.
Appreciate the welcome hhoope01 - with all the traveling I am doing lately I expect to have more time for browsing the forum and will certainly comment if I feel I have something worthwhile to contribute. BTW, I did manage to get a business card from the front desk manager at each of the hotels and I like the suggestion regarding a proactive email just in case I have to follow-up later on. |
Back to back Bonus Bucks
I recently received and offer for a good rate and $100 in Bonus Bucks for a 2-night weekend stay, requiring a Th/F/Sat arrival and F/Sat/Sun night stay,
Any problem booking a Thurs-Sat and Sat-Mon reservation to double up? I know I'll only get 1 stay credit - I'm already over 75 - but I can't see anything preventing two $100 BB's. In fact, can I use the first one on the second stay?@:-) |

As an EEO was being used so 2 nights were $89+ tx, and he had to give Us a $100 BB. But it was all set up legit and by the Plat Desk to boot. He was asked does he want to call the Plat Desk or better yet Customer Service or should We, he gave Us the BB but wasnt too happy about it, His problem. |
Yeah, I got a little sloppy and didn't notice the start date on one of the new Bonus Bucks. I tried to use it two weeks ago and was told that it isn't valid yet (which was correct!). Annoyingly, I had a valid $50 Bonus Bucks certificate at home but didn't bother to carry it because I was going to use that $100 one. I ended up using nothing. Oh, well.

Gift cards usable at Courtyard?
Does anyone know if those $1,000 Marriott gift cards that can be purchased for 10% off can be used at Courtyard by Marriott properties --specifically the Courtyard by Marriott Cayman Islands?
|
Per the Marriott website, "All cards can be used for services at all Marriott brands worldwide." So there shouldn't be an issue with using one there.

Most of the BBs being handed out are good starting sometime in Sept, so you wont be able to use it if you will be staying before the starting date of the BB.
There is one unusual promotion out there that apparently does give out certificates that cannot be used until a "start" date, but that is an unusual one, not the normal practice. |

Looks like you stay 1 night at a base rate of $109.00 and they hand you $200.00 in bonus bucks which expire in 8 months.
Could you make $70.00 a night by checking out and in and pay with your original bonus bucks? Using seperate reservations for 1 night I think this is possible. |
No, because each Bonus Buck requires two consecutive nights paid to be used.
|
That is correct.Still it is a very tempting offer.
Since I have to be in LAS a couple of weekends anyway ;) |
Also quite nice with the MegaBonus promotion going on right now!
