I just used two of them for a four-night stay, not weekend. I did however see one of mine is in fact denoted "Weekend only", whereas the two I just used aren't.
I also managed to use these in conjunction with a "Stay for Breakfast" rate (code S4B) which is a publicly available rate, and for this hotel was significantly less than the published rate for my stay.... |
Marriott Bonus Bucks Redemption Certificates
What is this all about? Is it just a way of selling Bonus Bucks without really selling the certificates?

I'm just wondering why it states:
THE REDEMPTION CERTIFICATES HAVE NO EXPIRATION DATE THE CLOCK IS TICKING EACH BONUS BUCK HAS AN 8 MONTH EXPIRATION DATE PRINTED ON IT |

And then: Am I missing something? If I understand it the auction is for 4 Electonic Certs, not the BB itself. Then you Print each cert and mail it in to the address supplied along With $10 per cert!! And you will receive a $50 BB. The Cert has no expiration date, the BBs do. So the winner will pay what ever amount the auction ends at PLUS another $10 for each BB they want. So its $40 to start off with + whatever $$ the winning bid is. |

Bonus Bucks Email SCAM - I may never stay at any Marriott property again.
I am pretty angry. I'm on a DL MR from IAH-MSY-IAH, it required a hotel stay in Houston last night and this coming Saturday evening. I got an email a few weeks ago from Marriott saying stay in Houston Marriott for $99 and get $100 Bonus Bucks to use on your next stay. Perfect, I thought. (There was no fine print on the email or when I made the reservation).
Last night when I got my $100 coupon, it is only good for a 2 night paid stay at Marriott, JW Marriott or Intercontinental. I can't use it tomorrow evening. I called 3 times today and was told, no way, we can't waive it, it's a promo put out by the hotel (the hotel claims Marriott International, MI blames the hotel.) This is clearly Bait and Switch. This is very misleading. This has to be the worse travel customer service I have ever received. If I don't hear from Marriott before tomorrow evening (Saturday), I will NEVER EVER stay at another Marriott again unless my company requires it. I have a choice in travel, and I will chose Hilton since I am also top level with them. When has Marriott lost it's customer focus? Signed - Pissed off traveller in ATL CRC |
Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you on the way out. Read the various threads on the bonus bucks. This is no scam. I have used many bonus bucks and they have always been for two night stays.
|
Wouldn't it be good customer service to let a customer know what they are "buying" before they buy it??? Or is that NOT the Marriott way?
I have used a $100 bonus bucks coupon on a one night stay a couple of years ago. |
Did you read the T&C from your email?
|
Sorry double post
|
Aye carumba!
Wow… from an FTer that joined in 1999 with over 8,000 posts. Shame on you, not Marriott!

I have used a $100 bonus bucks coupon on a one night stay a couple of years ago. The LINK on your original email took you to the booking page and there on the booking page is the "rates and conditions" link. It's your job to read them... |
BB / PP / SS / EE / etc. these days are always for two night stays. This is pretty clear in the fine print. Maybe long, long ago, they were valid on one-nighters. While you're at it, better read the fine print on the valid rates: things like auto club rates and corporate rates are no longer valid with the certs.
And not to be a pain in the arse, but if you try to pass one of these at the Intercontinental they will probably laugh you out of the lobby. :o (SS = Savvy Savings. It's basically a Bonus Bucks flavor issued by Renaissance.) |

Well of course hotels sell out of the cheaper rates earlier, just like airlines do. I got my $99 rate months ago (and I have a $100 Marriott Bonus Bucks certificate) :).... In Tuscaloosa during football season, if I don't book rooms 6 months in advance, I'd have to stay in BHM, 60 miles away. Dec 2, 05, 5:01 pm http://flyertalk.com/forum/showpost....postcount=3325 Emphasis Added Clearly, the OP is not a newcomer when it comes to the use of Marriott Bonus Bucks, and as Pinniped notes above, the bonus bucks certificate certainly has not changed in a year and a half. :td::td: |
Great find NJUPINTHEAIR! That was entertaining!
