There is one of these certificates on eBay now - item 300385482573. FWIW, I wrote the person and told him/her of my experience but he/she said it came from Marriott and it was real as it had a security seal on it.

Are BBs of dif colors in dif demoninations? I got a $50BB recently at SHS, and truthfully I wouldn't consider it blue or pink, more like a greyish. Given I got mine from the front desk I would consider it legit.
And it sounds like the trader was legit; didn't realize he had a problem w/ the cert. I wouldn't 'out' him to Marriott until I was truly able to verify it was fraudulant & deliberately so. And am I the only one who thinks whoever at Marriott 'accepted' the BB should have realized it was fradulent? I'm just sayin... Cheers. |
Hi, Sharon-
I didn't "out" the trader....nor would I, under the circumstances. As I said - I don't believe he intended to defraud me. In any case - Marriott never did anything more than charge my credit card. If the ebayer actually received the certificate from a Marriott location, then I would have to believe it is legitimate....same with your "grey" cert. I had no leg to stand on, so to speak, as I had no independent knowledge that my cert came from a specific Marriott...in which case I would have had some type of recourse. As I am usually one to cover my a$$ - I would now probably note on each cert from whence it came. |

Grabbed an image capture of an alleged bogus Bonus Buck. We had someone in our office with the same issue (Rejected - Counterfeit BB), however I had not seen one. This matches the description I heard. |
Hmm, that actually looks like one I got from Marriott - although $50 denomination. Is it the border giving it away? Need to go look at it closer I guess. But if it matches above, given it was handed to me directly by a Marriott employee I'd fight a fradulent charge.
Cheers. |
to be safe
always require the pink ones before any trade |
$1000 Gift Cheque is still there as an elite offer through Dec 31 2010. So much for the doom and gloom. Better hurry as it expires on Dec 31, 2010!!!

bonus bucks coupon
Does anyone else have a problem with this $100.00 bonus bucks coupon? You cannot book on the web, and when you call are only quoted the very highest rates. I had specifically booked a higher rate to get the coupon which sounded good at the time and now can't use it.

Discussed at length many times - "Search" is your friend.
|
Just ignore the phone # & instructions on the back & book online. In the Comments box, put "Using Bonus Bucks." Some hotels even ignore the rule against membership rates such as AAA! To be safe, book any rate that is available to anybody & not prepaid/ non-refundable.

Counsellor, I think I found your previous thread on this, but I did not see a response by Marriott. I would be most interested in seeing that as I have one of these $100 Bonus Bucks as you describe right now. I probably got it in a trade as well and I would need to go back and research that if it turns out to be a fake.

$100 Marriott Bonus Bucks certificate for stays at some Marriott hotels (valid until 6/10)

If you use these gift cheques, do you simply present them at checkout and they take however much off your bill?
