Either at check out or check in . I like to do it at check in just in case I am in a rush at check out. If you do it at check in, make sure you get a receipt as you are giving them CASH for the most part.

And they are delivered in denominations of $50? Is that correct?

YES $50's. Just remember, no change issued. So give less than you may spend!

Absolutely keep your receipts!
I find I need to frequently claim for elite nights & points when using gift cheques. bd |
Ordered on of those gift cheques last week - does anyone know how long it takes until I get my hands on them over here in Europe?
Greetings - Dirk |

This is true, however, if you book far enough in advance as I have done for the summer, my nightly rate is $265 a night which is great for this all inclusive package at the Casa Magna, the beach should also be repaired momentarily!! With my $4k in certs, this gets me two weeks and the points and nights to boot.
As an update, I received my gift cheques in Toronto two days after ordering them online. 80 $50 gift cheques. |

But the fine print said extra charge for kids...
I always like to confirm ahead of time and get it via email so I have something if there is an issue at check in. |
I just realized when I cleaned my office/filed things yesterday that I don't have the $50BB certificate. I usually put things in an envelope when traveling & the envelope for that trip has everything BUT the BB. Drat! Must have left it in the room. Since I received it from the front desk directly I'm assuming it was legit.
Cheers. |
Bonus Buck question
Hello. I just checked out of a marriott and part of my package was for a bonus buck award for $100 of 2 night stay. It seems in the past you had a while to spend those but I ws just looking and this one expires at the end of March. Does that seem right? Just wish I had more time to spend it.
|
Usually the BBs are good for about 6 months from when you get them. Did the offer give validity dates?
Or it may be that they just had these left in inventory and were getting rid of them. You might consider calling the property and seeing whether the manager could agree to swap for a longer-dated one. |

Are the usage dates 1/1/10-3/30/10? If so, they are left over from a promo from the end of last year.

I always make a habit of looking at the expiration date before I walk away from the front desk, and if it is less than 60, or even 90 days, I ask for the hotel to replace the BB with a longer expiration date. Surprise, surprise, they usually have what I ask for, but on the two occasions when they did not, they had them on order, and promised to send them to me in the mail. In each of those two cases, I received them by US mail in less than ten days, and the extended expiration dates were both more than six months.

Rule # 9 on the back of the Bonus Bucks states you can not use them for a rate that requires ID or membership. So, no, technically you can not use a Bonus Bucks certificate with a senior rate. That being said, it has been done by front desk personnel not familiar with the rules.
