I used 2 Premium Pounds during my stay at the Redmond, WA Marriott for an exchange rate of $200.96 per 100 pound certificate. I tried to argue that the person had the wrong rate and it should be in the range of $188ish as I did not want hassels later on. Well when she insisted that she had just called "Marriott Corporate accounting" and thats the exchange rate she was given, I said I'll take the extra $11 or so. I hope this person does not get in trouble for this later on.

A warning on expiration dates

Be aware that in the UK we write our dates different to the US, i.e. DD/MM/YY not MM/DD/YY

As Premium Pounds are intended for use in the UK their expiry dates follow our standard, therefore coupons with expiration dates of 09/06/2005 expire on the 9th of June, not the 6th of September.

I think there may be some confusion here:

My Premium Pounds certifcates have a box in the center:

COUPON VALID UNTIL
07/20/2005

Does the UK calendar have 20+ months also? If so, how many days are in months 13-20?

The year is 2548 in Thailand, so I'm guessing anything is possible.

You've got PM.

Is there any reason you need to trade $200 for $190? Is there something about the $100 that I don't know?

Sam

The might be intended for use in the UK but I have a feeling they are printed in the US as in my experiene the dates have always been US format. The ones I currently have expire on 9/22/05.

Sam
Probably only has a 2 or 3 night stay and doesn't need both $100 certificates since he would need to stay at least 4 nights to use both. Saves $190 vs $100.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am debating whether to use my Premium Pounds for a coming trip to Houston or save it for later (expr. 12/05).

I want to know if I will get points/miles on the portion paid on Premium Pounds as I want to get the bonus miles from a double mile promotion.

I know Marriott Points are awarded on net (not gross) amount paid; but I am not certain if Premium Pounds/Bonus Bucks is considered just a form of payment like cash, or more like a discount voucher. How does it appear on the final statement at check-out?

This question has probably been asked, I did try to google but couldn't find the answer.

TIA, Tim

yes
you will get MR on everything except taxes, this includes room rates, meals charged to your room bill, etc
the PP is treated like a cash payment

it will appear on your final bill as a payment

Didn't get to use my Premium Pounds this weekend at Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental. The front desk manager claimed they didn't have an exchange rate, he could only accept my 100 PP as a payment of 100 US$. That's tantamount to a fraud, but he sounded like he was doing me a favor.

I even had the exchange rate printout from the marriott (thanks for the tip from Sam - DFW), but he insisted that the hotel didn't have a local rate. My wife was waiting in the car outside, so I didn't argue with him for long. Obviously, I didn't take his lowball "offer". This marriott is the largest in Houston. It is my first time using PP; needless to say, my experience has been terrible.

That is pure BS-they are an airport property and therefore of course they have an in house exchange rate.
I do belive a phone call/letter is in order here.
I really doubt it was the real"manager"you were talking to-if it was G-D help marriott in Houston!
