help using Marriott Premium Pounds
I am going to Las Vegas in June, and I would like to use three Premium Pound certificates.
I am staying for six nights, and there are two us in the room.
The T&C require a two night minimum stay.
How should I make the reservation to utilize three certificates?
1. make the six night reservation and check out after the second and fourth nights. will Marriott allow this?
2. make three reservations - two nights each.
3. make the six night reservation and have Mariott switch the billing to my friend for the middle two nights.
4. make three reservations - me, my friend, me.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sam

I guess, I don't understand your question, but to use a BB you need to book in a Marriott or Ren hotel (no courtyard, etc) for the entire six days. You need to book on a "publically available rate" - a rate that would appear if you leave all boxes unchecked (some people say AAA rates are OK - but usually they are just a few dollars less, and not worth the possible hastle). One reservation of six days and three coupons should work fine.
Lastly, inform Marriott that you will be using BB. Most of them say "should" some say "must" inform of use of BB. Never hurts to have it documented. In my experince, they are very easy to use.

thanks.
Thanks for the response. My entire question was predicated on the assumption (belief) that I could only use one per stay. Hopefully that explains my complex over-analysis.
I called Marriott and had the CSR add the information to my reservation.
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,a couple of points here.
You go ahead and book all six nights at once-no need to book 3 seperate stays(although you could do that if you were chasing the MR bonus)
Book a rate that is available to all(no AAA,no third party bookings)-but you can book a PKG PES S4B etc rate as those are all publiclly available.
At check in you hand your bonus pounds to the nice reception person-make sure they understand the pounds(not dollars)part.
Not all properties are eligible in using a bonus buck, check the rules on your cert.N Las Vegas the JW and the Renaissance are the ones I know honor the cert(not sure about Marriott Suites
)
The clerk will then check to see what the hotels exchange rate is-last weekend it was $1.71 they will not give you par' on your cert.
Enjoy your stay-both the JW and the Renaissance are great properties.

I actually made my reservation for the Marriott Suites. It is in close proximity to the Sands convention center, and the rates were $40-$60 less per night than the Renaissance. I can certainly switch if I cannot use the certificates at the Marriott Suites. Does anyone know the answer to this?
The Marriott MegaBonus is over June 1st, the first night of my stay.

the worse rate i ever got was 1.85
it may help you to print out a copy of the exchange rate the day that you travel
and give that at check in
and write the cert numbers down or fotocopy the certs when you hand them in
just inb case
also ask for a printout of the bill when you hand them in - to be sure that they have been credited to your account properly

Does anyone know if you can use bonus bucks on an award stay... Or is it one of those grey areas where some hotels will allow it, and some won't?

Sam-I am wondering the same thing. It does not say on my premium pound or bonus bucks that I cannot use them, but there is also no mention of them as a property I can use them at-very confusing-oh Marriott Concierge or Socrates? Please give us your wisdom on this matter.
PS the The Rennaisance is really nice
Sam you might want to check out the NEW PROMO-might give you incentive to stay at a full service versus a limited service

You guys are lucky. I've had nothing but bad exchange rates for my Premium Pounds. $1.50 at Los Angeles Downtown and $1.40s at Seattle Sea-Tac Airport.

1 premium pound = $189.39
todays exchange rate is 1.897300
only off by $0.34
next time
try travelling with a printout of the current exchange rate
and have the manager research it, if the rate is not competitive

favorable exchange rate...
You can "Prnt Scrn" from Marriott's own website and use their conversion calculator.
It is java, so I don't think you can enter a link. It is on the right whenever you go to date-specific reservations for a property.
Conversion:
100 GREAT BRITAIN POUND (GBP) = 189.39 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DOLLAR (USD) as of Monday, April 18, 2005
Note: Converted amount is based on today's exchange rates and is for comparison purposes only.
It says "for comparison purposes only", but I think they would have a hard time arguing a different rate should be used.

The Premium Pounds would work just like you were exchanging pounds for dollars at the front desk. The hotel gets to use it's rate, not yours.
Many Marriotts in large cities (e.g., the Marriot East Side in NYC, where I stayed this weekend) have a conversion rate posted by the front desk. Typically it is not very favorable. Even though a guest has a printed rate from a currency converter, newspaper or a bank, I don't think the hotel would have to honor the guest's conversion rate.

i have spent 5 weekends in 2005 at the newark airport marriott
and i have used a premium pound on each stay
on my first visit, at check-in
i was given a rate of something like 1.3
the next morning i spoke with the manager
from then on I have always received the rate used on Marriotts own conversion tables
