Help with an e-mail address?
Looking for a GM or concierge address for The Inn at Bay Harbor, a new Ren property in Michigan. I tried [email protected], but it bounced back.

Would this help you?
ondeadlin,
I can give you the contact information I have access to currently.
The Inn at Bay Harbor
3600 Village Harbor Drive
Bay Harbor, MI 49770
Phone: 231-439-4000
Fax: 231-439-4094
If you do not wish to call the hotel, perhaps a fax would also work?

Many of us use email as our preferred means of communications. There are many benefits to using email, but I will not list them here.
That being said, I would prefer to use email to contact a property with questions. A record of the communication that can be printed out, such as directions on getting public transportation to the hotel, do they offer a shuttle service from airport and where you meet it, and even request that I would like to make of the property upon check-in are examples of how this could and would be used.
A simple email that would go into the sales office of the bigger properties and to the office staff of the smaller ones would be much appreciated. If you needed to reach the GM with a request or concern the email could be forwarded to him by the property.
Surely some type general email address could be created by each property to accomplish this task. Listing this email address on the website along with the other contact information would be most helpful.
Do ya think you can get this done by next week?

Chris - I'd like to second longing4piedmont's motion.
It makes so much sense.
As an example, my wife and I have reservations for the Curacao Marriott Resort several weeks from now. I wanted to communicate with them, but could not locate a unique email address for them anywhere on the official site.
I eventually found it on one of the tourism sites sponsored by either the government of Curacao or their tourism board (I forget which). I utilized it and got a prompt, personal and signed reply from one of the hotel staff.
What Longing4piedmont posted was utterly logical IMHO since implementation would not only enhance customer satisfaction and site usability, but also from the perspective of the staffs of Marriott's properties make one aspect of their jobs easier. And, please allow me to opine that going the roundabout way - through the sites "inquiry-question" page in order for it to be rerouted manually is unnecessarily cumbersome and wastes time. Besides, how will the sender know whether their message was forwarded?
After all, wouldn't they rather be made cognizant of guests' requests and questions prior to their arrival at the front desk and be able to take advantage of extra time in dealing with them?
"L4P's" suggestion ranks among the best made since you arrived and as such truly merits consideration by Marriott (and a report back to us as to whether or not its future implementation is something that not only guests, but Marriott and the individual Marriott properties can look forward to becoming a reality).

On Marriott.com, go to the hotel website for the property you are interested in contacting. On the left-hand navigation panel, there is a "Questions or Comments" link which leads to a fill in form. Not sure who the email gets sent to, but I have used this once or twice to get public transportation information for specific properties and both times have recieved a response by email in a reasonable amount of time.

But, with all due respect and you can even disregard my posted agreement,t in my opinion, that comeback is just not worthy of "Longing4Piedmont's" thoughtful and constructive advocacy.
Tell me why using that message facility is better ? ---
Why is it better to compel people to go through an intermediary than directly to where they may want to communicate?
Why is it better for them not to automatically get an automatic copy (in their "sent email" folder) of emails they transmit? (Yeah, I know, they can P and C.)
Just why is it better not to let customers know almost immediately (via those MAILER-DEMON error mssgs) when their emails have gone to invalid or incorrect addresses?
Not to be facetious or sarcastic, but Marriott makes public the phone numbers of properties, so what's so sacred about their email addresses, which if one goes to trouble, or in some cases expense, they can obtain anyway?
Chris, don't misunderstand - I'm not angry, but am disappointed.
Even if you disagree, in light of the opinion posed and how it was presented, I think a better and more complete answer is a reasonable expectation.

rahmanbar,
In answer to your questions, Marriott Corporate Headquarters is in charge of maintaining the website, not the individual hotels. Therefore, sending emails this way is a more direct way to communicate. And as Socrates mentioned previous, not all hotels have a general email address for that property.
Another thing to consider is the aspect of what hotels are responsible for everyday. Each hotel has duties such as pre-blocking rooms, check guests in/out, help people on the phone, etc. It is one thing to answer the phone or read a piece of paper off the fax machine. It is another to gain access to and maintain a general email box.
Also, keep in mind that the people handling your emails sent via the web have been specifically assigned to do so.
I assure you that I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions from everyone! I will be sure to pass them on.
Sincerely,
