Is this grounds for receiving the Elite Guarantee compensation?

Before I begin, I'm not trying to scam the system. I've never had this issue even arise in over 150 stays.

I'll keep it short:

- Rate booked has room type listed as 1 king or 2 double
- My profile (attached to this reservation) has the King bed preference
- Check into Full Service Marriott tonight, they give me room with 2 doubles

Does this fall under the ability to request the Elite Guarantee or not?

"Preference" doesn't mean guarantee. The room type is either / or.

I agree, and the only reason I started the thread was because this is the description listed:

Quote:
Guaranteed Room Type
When making a reservation, be sure to note both your Marriott Rewards membership number and room/bed preferences. At locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, we'll always honor your bed type request. Outside U.S. and Canada, smoking/nonsmoking preferences are honored based on availability; exact bed sizes may vary. If guarantee is not met, guest compensation applies.
Thus I was confused.

if you didn't select king on the reservation nor it listed as a guaranteed preference, then no comp.

normally it shows on my reservations IF i select a bedding preference:

GUARANTEED:
KING BED

NOT GUARANTEED:
HIGH FLOOR
ID REQUIRED

(or something to the above)

have to disagree on this interpretation as the actual T&Cs state -

Guaranteed Room Type
When making a reservation, be sure to note both your Marriott Rewards membership number and room/bed preferences. At locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, we'll always honor your bed type request.

inasmuch as OP states that king bedded was in his preferences, then the URG should come into force & effect.......

as you quoted: note both your (1) Marriott Rewards Membership Number and (2) your room preferences. NOTE means you need to NOTE it, by selecting... imho

it doesn't say we will guarantee you preference because sometimes it comes back "Not Guaranteed".

IMHO, only those that actually SELECT bedding preference (as part of #2) and have reservation show up as GUARANTEED: KING BED, will be eligible for comp.

isn't ones bed preference "noted" into a reservation by using ones MR acct # where the bed preference is pre-set????
I know mine are as part of my profile.......
Room options:
King/queen
Non-smoking

i would agree with you, but you QUOTED the guarantee (as in my interpretation) requires one to NOTE it

i say this because the preference CAN default (like mine), but on the screen before reservation, i've seen my reservation show a comment that "cannot be guaranteed: king bed".

+1, unless the preference shows up as guaranteed on the review page before confirmation and confirms as a bedding guarantee.

No, one does not have to specifically book a King or 2 Double/Queen room to qualify for the Guarantee. The generic "1 King Or 2 Double" booking that is common at Full Service properties also qualifies for the Guarantee IF your preference of 1 King is set in your profile (which it is) AND your reservation confirmation states that a King bedded room is guaranteed (which is almost always the case for Platinums and would be denoted as K1 on the screen of the check-in agent).

If I don't get the bed type that they guarantee, then I may revoke the guarantee (unless it's due to an upgrade).

Did you tell them they gave you room that didn't match your bedding request? I am in agreement that the reservation must indicate that the bedding type is guaranteed.

Did you meant to say "invoke"?

If not, I am very confused (which, truth be told, is my normal state, so who knows).
