inasmuch as OP states that king bedded was in his preferences, then the URG should come into force & effect.......
as you quoted: note both your (1) Marriott Rewards Membership Number and (2) your room preferences. NOTE means you need to NOTE it, by selecting... imho

it doesn't say we will guarantee you preference because sometimes it comes back "Not Guaranteed".

IMHO, only those that actually SELECT bedding preference (as part of #2) and have reservation show up as GUARANTEED: KING BED, will be eligible for comp.
