I think the point was that even thought it says it's a Plat Premier link it basically takes you to the Plat elite bennies, thereby cementing the idea that there's not really much to PP other than the phone # ;)

Just logged in and found I made PP for the first time. 183 nights last year but 70 of that were rollovers.

There are no benefits. That is the point.

If you are logged in as a PP, the benefits link goes to a page that is virtually blank.

Damn. I had 352 nights last year with almost a million points earned and it doesnt appear i made it...unless they are still updating things. I checked this morning and they reset totals. I logged in 3 hours later and they had processed rollover nights. Here's hoping they are still processing things.

Did you get an email telling you you are PP?

Longevity seems to count a bunch. Even 3 years of hard travel does not seem to get the elusive PP. I got it after about 10 years of 110-140 nights per year.

352 nights? you must be spending your 4 other night last year in flight I guess...But just curious, what kind of job would require you to travel that much?

No email. Just saw the status when I logged in. Rollover nights is still showing zero so things are still updating I guess.

I ma weirdly bummed that the husband's account is all updated and that he is still plat. I know PP doesn't get you anything, but seeing all these people comped to Plat makes me think someone with 75-110 nights for 7 years should be getting more than they do.

FWIW, I'd started staying weekly in Marriotts (mostly CY) in July '09, and had made PP by the Jan '13 reassesment (and again this year, which was a bit of a surprise as my stays were quite a bit down).

Who knows what MI is looking for, but considering I've had to beg for an upgrade in an FI since making it, I'm glad I didn't have to do anything special to make PP.

I was PP and now the status is still showing PP but the message says: "Congratulations! Your Platinum Elite status has been renewed." (with 45 rollover nights)

actually, it is all credit card nights. no paid stays what so ever.

Since PP is at least in part, revenue based, I don't think you will ever make PP purely on credit card. And since you don't' stay, why would you care?

They make revenue off of me via the points earned that Chase pays them for and I can only assume Chase also pays for the elite night credits as well. From what I have read over the years, Hotel and airline CC partnerships are gold mines for the travel company.

Also, I do stay for leisure....I accumulate enough points via CC spend where I just dont have to pay to stay.

You may support them via hotel stays, I support them via their CC partnership...both make them $$$. Also, for everything else, they treat the CC nights earned the same as nights stayed so I would expect them not to change that behavior just to figure out PP.

I cant say I am totally bummed...I made Lifetime Plat this month solely from CC spend the last 4 years so that is something.

Made PP for the first time this year. 129 nights. No rollover. 17 of the nights were CC, so 112 BiB nights. Even mix of SHS/FI/CY and FS/Ren. Heavy travel for approximately nine years. P for the past eight years. LTP.
