Platinum Premier Level [Merged threads]

i think longevity counts but for different reasons. I had 199 nights, about 100 from full service full fee Marriott's and a few events, the rest from rollover and 75k cc spend. But I am already lifetime plat so with out PP I would get absolutely nothing for those 199 nights. I think you are more likley to make PP when you are already lifetime plat.

actually, it is all credit card nights. no paid stays what so ever.

352 nights just on credit card spend = $1mil spend last year. I assume that was mainly business expenses and your credit line is over $100K. In my experience, Chase is fairly stingy with credit lines, so you must have a long credit history with Chase.

Although Marriott probably receives a decent amount of money from their partnership with Chase credit cards, I think they get much more when you actually reserve, stay and pay for a room.

Maybe..who knows. But..if that were the case then they wouldnt count the CC elite nights the very same as a night stayed for achieving status and everything else. It also stands to reason that PP (like any other status level) really doesnt cost them anything more. There isnt some new huge cost for someone to be PP versus Plat.

Just like one could take their spending to another chain, I could easily take my CC spending and such to another program....in both circumstances, it is $$$ lost. Some may even say since i am Lifetime plat now, I am foolish NOT to take my CC spend elsewhere to work on status with another chain. i wont because I am loyal to marriott and I enjoy how they treat us.

But..for all we know, it is a longevity thing. Maybe I am have not been Lifetime plat or plat long enough for them to consider it and that is the only thing keeping me from it. We will see next year.

Made PP for the first time this year. 129 nights. No rollover. 17 of the nights were CC, so 112 BiB nights. Even mix of SHS/FI/CY and FS/Ren. Heavy travel for approximately nine years. P for the past eight years. LTP.

Nice! I had 0 CC and 119 BIB + 1 B-day nigh and it only says "Renewed Plat" not "PP" for me. Mostly FS/Ren for me.

I was explicitly told to get PP you need 3 years of Plat.

I was nothing, Gold, Silver, plat off and on for many years then 2009 travel exploded. Lived in hotel full-time in a couple years had 400 nights. No PP.

Just was making a booking this morning and logged into MR and voila, I'm now PP. Now if only it actually meant something like GS does on UA.

This. At least for me, the page is virtually blank. I thought maybe they fixed it today, but it's still virtually blank when I am logged in.

The blank page defines exactly what benefits PP provides;)

Me, Lifetime Plat, Plat and now PP. What's the special perk? A new phone number? I don't get all the hub-bub.

Most of us feel the same way. The differences between Plat and PP are too small to be seen with the naked eye.

The annual gift is the only tangible thing I've noticed in my 2 years - the WSJ app was useless but the toiletry kit of last year is actually in use. I'd like to believe logically it might get you higher up in the upgrade pecking order but don't see any hard experience when I needed it the most. Some of the limited properties have given my both the points and a soda when checking in.

Exactly the same experience for me except I have been PP for 4 years. except for the years we had the 10% discount on food

The best thing to do with PP (3rd year for me) - is to have ZERO expectations. Many properties just welcome as a "Platinum", some don't even know what it is. There are rare upgrades - I've been given massive suites, especially over the holidays, due to the status. I think room rate paid has more effect on upgrades than status.

Made it for the first time, but 7th consecutive year platinum. Usually around 100 in bed nights/year (including this year). My spend was probably a little higher than normal this year due to working in bigger cities. FWIW, I did just hit the 750 lifetime nights, though I'm still shy of the 2M points earned for lifetime plat.

I've been starting to spread out my nights to other programs to diversify a little. I don't really think the allure of platinum premier is going to change that.

I get bottled water and snacks after taking the points fairly often as just a lowly Plat. Sorry! :p

No need to apologize. Most of us have been saying for a long time that there is no great material benefit to Plat Premier.

That said, there have been times I see things in the room like a bottle of wine, fruit basket, or even a gift like an intl charger or amenity basket but all these hotels are intl. Not sure if Plats also receive these. Nice touches but not enough IMO to want to make the jump to Premier.
