Yes, as it has been posted MANY times in this and other threads, I HAVE been aware that IN THE PAST, Marriott has never indicated LT status for sign in to marriott.com.
HOWEVER, considering that for the very first time ever in Marriott HISTORY, Marriott has published, in their stated elite rules (meaning put it in writing for all to see without being a FT or Marriott Insiders subscriber/reader), that a LT status even exists, it then logically follows that seeing LT status reflected on individual accounts may be "up in the air" as to whether such status might now begin to be differentiated for LT status upon individual sign in for members on marriott.com.

....snip....
Platinum and PP status is ONLY recognized by reservations when generating revenue. It INFURIATES me that there are seemingly NO additional benefits bestowed when it comes to point redemption opportunities. Please, please correct me if I'm wrong. When I want to book my annual vacation on a Caribbean beach, I'm afforded no additional benefit in competing for the limited rooms available over a silver guest who, after years of 10 nights per year is finally able to redeem their points. I've enjoyed the benefit of the 48 hour Platinum override reservation opportunity when paying, but there is nothing remotely like this on the point redemption side. If not 48 hours, then offer a 30 days, 60 days point redemption override.....something!
3 years ago the Marriott Concierge communicated: "...priority for point redemption reservations isn't a benefit of Platinum status. It has been discussed from time to time, especially a few of years ago when we were considering how to update some aspects of the program, but ultimately the direction we went was to eliminate black out dates." Presumably Marriott doesn't get a sense of this frustration among its members and has no motivation to change it, while I continue to seethe over this. Am I alone out here with this frustration?

The reference to Swingtrain, who I was replying to, was for further redemption options for both PP and Plat, not just for PP.

3. The breakfast petition (which affects more than just PPs) had lots of folk signing the petition on MarriottInsiders & nothing changed.
FWIW - I 100% agree that PP should get some extra bennies to differentiate them from regular Plats. That Marriott diluted some of the bennies they did get is absurd.
Cheers.

Yes, FWIW about PP, they should get some meaningful extra benefits for their extra status and revenue to MI.

Are you sure that the breakfast petition influenced NO changes whatsoever? How many more domestic FS hotels now offer weekend breakfasts to Plats than did just 2-3 years ago? When you were doing the surveys for the Master Thread on lounges, didn't you note how many states had larger weekend participation than in the past?

Marriott's stated policy is no brekkie on weekends. However, Michelle on Insiders has said HQ won't penalize a property if it chooses (on its own) to offer coupons or a discount or keep the lounge open.
I would say properties deciding to offer coupons has more to do w/ input from elites staying at the property rather than HQ changing anything. For properties that choose not to offer coupons when I contact the property to update the sticky, the reason given is to comply w/ HQ directive.
Cheers.

Just had my first experience with being PP and it was quite disappointing. Want to go to the JW in New Orleans in early March. Sold out no overrides. Same with Marriott conference center. Many other Marriott properties available. Called the Marriott line, nothing. No help, no offer of assistance, nothing. Sorry they are not taking overrides. The rep didn't even mention PP just said we appreciate your being a Platinum member. I thought they would at least call the hotel. This PP could end up pushing me away from Marriott.

So I just logged into my marriott profile for the first time in 2013 and saw I am now platinum premier. is there anywhere listing the concrete benefits? Also, it shows me with 60 nights already for 2013, but I haven't stayed any nights so far. Is there a rollover or something?

The 60 nights would be rollover. It should be nights stayed last year (plus any credit card nights earned last year) minus 75.

Are you sure that you were talking to a dedicated PP agent? This sounds like pretty bad customer service. Try calling back, ask the agent's name in a way that makes clear that you are writing it down, and verify that they are a special PP agent, not just someone who claims to be able to help you.

Logged on today for reservation. Site still says I'm a PP. But ... below it is a line congratulations, you have renewed as a Platinum Elite. I presume that means I'm being downgraded as I only had 130 nights last year (not that it matters a lot) but there is certainly ambiguity.
