Marriott, alas, only 52 so far this year, even using the new math. But we expect to re-plat with the double-nights promotion.... and should be lifetime plats by 2003 or so....less on-the-road and more flying means fewer hotel room nights and more airline miles.... but adding rooms from the ancillary brands has saved us, since many of our usual shows near full-brand Marriotts have died or moved or dried up for us....

Starwood: 70 nights
Hyatt: 18 nights
Hilton: 15 nights
HI: 7 nights
Interconti: 7
Marriott: 7 after this week.
Shangri-La: 4
and probably 50 or so nights in other random hotels.
Q: about Marriott. What are the chances of keeping my Silver card based on a travel slowdown late this year? I expect to stay at a particular Residence Inn fairly often next year.

stimpy, we've known people who got renewed at their "usual" level with many fewer nights than the stated requirement. But they had been long-term Marriott elites before retiring (in one case; changing jobs in another). I don't know if Marriott has a formula for this. In neither case did the folks we know call or otherwise ask to be carried - it just happened. But I don't see how it can hurt to ask, as long as you know they may say, Sorry. But you have through March to make (double) nights toward status for '02.

Holiday 27 (62 last year)
Marriott 10 (16)
Hilton 11 (zero)
Best western 0 (was 5), I am proud of this zero
So the 11th of september really changed a lot in my life.
Excepty with holiday, I wil not be a top customer any longer in 2002.

Wow on numerous things!
1. Should I be tracking these things or do you guys just do it from the Program Activity?
2. You all are way luckier than I am! I mostly stay at B&Bs on a good day, or someone's spare room on a bad day!
3. I only stay at "real" hotels when I go to trainings or vacation in the Lower 48. The vacations I usually do through Priceline, so no points. I have stayed at a lot of Marriotts through Priceline (~15-20 days).
4. My company, right now, just reimburses actual expenses which are then charged to the client. We are thinking of switching to per diem for atleast meal cost. Most of the time there isn't a choice of hotel, but when there is (like trainings), my boss doesn't really care.
5. My ex-husband (notice "ex") and I used to get along better when he was in the army and would leave for a month or so every 6 mo or so. That stopped and things were downhill from there!
6. I could never have the job (lots of travel) I have now if I were still married to my ex. It really depends on the person and relationship. My bf and I have been together for 2 years now. I've been traveling about 2 1/2, heavily about 1 year. I can totally trust him and he even does laundry for me on the weekend while I catch up on work! This makes it easier because we then have time for fun!
7. As pointman POINTED out, having young kids and traveling would be very difficult. I don't have kids, but some co-workers do and it's really tough for them and their kids. They are almost always home on the weekends and most heavy travel is only in the summer for them.
Anyway, sorry so long. I'm tired but can't sleep! That's why I'm reading forums I rarely go into!

Starwood 61 nights Earned PLATINUM
Homestead Suites 6 nights
Marqueen Hotel-Seattle 4 nights
Sofitel-Philadelphia 4 nights
