Just to be clear, the search would not be on FT but on the MR database itself. Not claiming to be an expert, but I have done very similar things in my job when merging DBs and purging duplicate entries. Searching for accounts that have received stay credit for more than one night on the same date is pretty straight forward.

And pointing out MR does not follow their own T&Cs on a public board could be just the incentive needed for someone like Marriott Concierge to put in a request. And since MR "owns" the account, they are within their rights to close the account and you can be out nearly half a million points (a minor reduction in their liabilities).

As always posted on FT YMMV, so just because one event happens, does not a policy make.

It is not our responsiblity to audit our MR accoutns for their mistakes. I have had mistakes in my favor that were corrected later, I assume by some kind of computer sweep.

From the T&C's:
12.In the case of fraud or abuse involving the Rewards Program, Point credit, Miles credit, Reward use, or a participating hotel, the Company and its travel partners have the right to take appropriate administrative and/or legal action, including but not limited to revocation/cancellation of any Reward and/or termination of Rewards Program Membership, and all Miles or Points and certificates (Certificates) earned through the Rewards Program may be forfeited and any relevant Membership Account(s) closed.
Abuse can be defined as booking multiple nights knowing they don't qualify and given you have posted knowing MR doesn't trap it, they would have a point.

I suspect we will need to agree to disagree on how this can be handled. I have seen agents do worse for less and since this is all at the company's discretion.
19.The Company has the sole discretion to interpret and apply the Program Rules, and all questions or disputes regarding these Program Rules will be resolved by the Company in its sole discretion.
Signing off...

nabco, what's with the attitude?

The OP asked a question & got a # of accurate responses. You had a different experience, but as others have mentioned, that's due to luck & not due to Marriott policy.

Being sarcastic when they pointed out there could be possible repercussions wasn't really needed. You're correct that the odds of Marriott checking are probably slim, but they're correct that Marriott could & you (or others) wouldn't have a lot of recourse if they took corrective action.

Of course the upside to the topic going off-topic is now people know what the T&Cs are

Cheers.

There's no attitude...he's the one that basically said I was stupid for posting the mistake that Marriott made in a public forum and then saying because of THEIR mistake they can close my account...give me a break, should I call them and tell them they screwed up.

My original post was stating that I was credited for two rooms and only paid for one...that was the extent of it....the other guy came with the attitude.

I'm done....

And BTW...both rooms were paid for, I paid for one and the guy I work with paid for the other...his last post quoting the T&C's implies only one room was paid for

nabco stated that he received points, not stay credit. I agree that it would easy to search for accounts receiving stay credit for more than one night on the same date (and I would be surprised if there was not some kind of exception report for this), but I think it would be much harder and probably not worth it to find members who incorrectly received points for rooms paid for by someone else.
