Ten (10) Elite Nights are given for each meeting held in a participating hotel under the "Rewarding Events" program. See below for non-participating brands. Information about the Rewarding Events program may be found at https://www.marriott.com/meeting-eve...els/rewards.mi
The 10 elite nights per meeting are independent of any hotel rooms booked in conjunction with the meeting. In fact, no hotel rooms have to be booked as part of the meeting in order to receive credit for 10 elite nights.
Although the Rewarding Events webpage refers to room nights for meeting participants, the most important section is the one that states 10 Elite Nights, regardless if you or your guest is paying for it
In general, a written contract is required (or should be obtained). In many cases, the meeting is booked through a central Marriott group sales office instead of directly with a hotel. If booked through a central Marriott group sales office, there is a three-page contract that makes reference to the Rewarding Events program on page 2 of the agreement. A MR member number should be included in this area of the contract by the group sales office.

The smallest meeting room is not usually shown online --- you may need to call each hotel to find out which one has a boardroom or other small meeting room. Once you've found a small meeting room, then request a quote online.
Q: How quickly will Marriott respond with a quote?
A: Usually within a day or two --- and usually via email. The email should contain a telephone number of the group sales contact. Give them a call and tell them you'd like to follow up on the quote and you're interested in booking the smallest room available for a 2 person meeting for an hour. If they quote a price that's higher than you want to pay, ask them if they can get approval for a lower priced meeting (e.g., a recent quote was for $75 for an 8 hour use of a CY boardroom). They accepted a counter of $50 for a one-hour meeting in the room (plus service charge plus local sales tax). Urban hotels may charge significantly higher rates for meeting space than a smaller, less congested city.

Would be true IF the merged loyalty programs were limited to only current Marriott props but with another 2000+ added to the batch there is no reason to aggregate the numbers of G/Ps in any new program limited to using only current Marriott props.
As for your not chasing LT comment, you sure post enough about all those cheap meetings you’re having to aggregate nights !

Perhaps it has been "discredited," but technically speaking lifetime status is for the lifetime of the program. There are plenty of examples of loyalty programs that have devalued or changed well-established benefits.
I certainly wouldn't chase lifetime platinum status assuming it will be 100% the same in the new, combined program. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new, defined top-level above platinum because there are simply too many golds and platinums. For example, the number of elites on a Friday night at the Renaissance in downtown Toledo -- hardly a major business city -- was 3 pages long.

Yes, the programs can be dissolved at anytime per the T&Cs. These mergers are more like a marriage. Yes, your single life may end when you get married, but life goes on; your couple life may end when you have children, but life goes on; your family life may end when the kids grow up and move out, but life goes on. You see the trend?

My confession that I didn't go through all the posts as there are so many of them. How long should I wait before I contact the property about posting nights? I had my meeting at a Courtyard last Thursday and nothing has posted. I read the Wiki which says it may take up to 15 days. But what's in practice recently? Am I supposed to both some bonus points and the 10 nights?

I had my meeting at a Courtyard last Thursday and nothing has posted. I read the Wiki which says it may take up to 15 days. But what's in practice recently? Am I supposed to both some bonus points and the 10 nights?
My feeling is, unless you need the points to get to a higher level than you are currently, give it two weeks or so after the credit card charge hits and follow up to make sure that your MR# was on the event and didn't fall off. Marriott's website says points should post 7-10 business days.

The nights usually post the same time you get your points. So if you get points without any nights then there might have been an issue and you should definitely message them.

ugh, I only need 2 meetings to requal for Plat but my previous best bets are at lowest $200. I submitted some requests for quotes as well with my $100 target and no luck either. One place was nice enough to at least reply to say my budget was too low even for a 2 hour room usage. No response at all from others.

For me its usually 2-3 days from when my event took place. One time it didn't post for 3-4 weeks, I messaged the person handling the event and they told me their manager was on vacation and had to wait for them to get back to approve it. This was like my 4th or 5th meeting out of 6. The meetings I booked after it posted before this event.

Almost any hotel in the country works. Doesn't matter where it is. I like airport locations myself. Just book and don't show. You still get the nights for the meeting. Done it several times. It's very easy.

I requested quotes from 3 hotels in Canada, specified my flexibility for any date and time of day and only 2 persons for 1 hour. All the hotels quoted full day pricing, and when I responded that I only needed the hour, they all said they won't do hourly pricing because they can't sell the remainder of the day.
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions of where this works?

Maybe tell them you want 4 AM to 5 AM, so they'll have time to reset the room.
How much do they want for a full day? Ask them if they'll split it into 1-hour blocks if they can sell at least 8 of them, then ask here if people want to share. ($200/day is too much, but $30 for an hour is a great deal. I don't need anything until next year (buying in January gets me 2 years), else I'd jump at it.)
