Surely, you don't think that I thought it would be a Cat4, right?

I leave open the possibility that it will be a Cat6 like the SR Aspen, but I'm not really up for debating the merits on a public forum.

Anyone have any updates as to when I might be able to book using points? Looking to do a Christmas vacation and per the website this resort is opening Oct 1.

Any updates on what category this hotel will fall into? How is construction coming along?

Just called the resort and was told they're in the process of activating their booking system. Rooms should be available to book online by Monday, she said. Now don't steal my rooms . Oh... it's going to be a category 6.

I spoke to them as well. Although they will begin taking reservations soon, the first available booking isn't until January 4th. They are giving the residence owners some period of time to book from the opening until January 4th. They told me that after several weeks (3 or 4), they will open up the remaining inventory for general reservations.

Just booked for January 7th

I just booked two rooms using points for the weekend of January 7th. Category 6; 20,000 points per night. It is a steal using point, the normal room rate is $700 - $1275.

For Park City, that's a good weekend for you. The week after the Holidays is fairly mellow in season at the ski areas.

Great Service

I had called the property some time ago and was told they were taking reservations for stays beginning in January. The rep said they might pull that date back depending upon bookings from the residences. She took my name and would call me back if that happened. Earlier this week, she did just that and was able to book me 5 nights on points beginning Dec. 18th. To be honest, I never thought they'd actually call me back.

I asked questions about ski and clothing rental (like the Four Seasons Whistler). She didn't know but said she'd call me back. I feel confident I'll hear back as soon as they figure it out. Hard to beat Starwood!!!

As an aside, I was able to get a first class ticket from ATL to SLC for about $85 more than coach (and I won't have to pay for the extra bags).

Looking like a good vacation.

Dec. reservation

Did you ask to speak with any one in particular at the hotel? I called the hotel to try to make a reservation for December but had no luck.

The room rate for my dates is $842 so I am happy to part with my points.

SPG50 not available for the dates that I requested.
What number did you call at SPG or was it the hotel direct? Might be interested in using cash and points for this hotel too.

Thanks

For my December stay, I called the hotel directly. At the time, they were booking from Dec. 18th. Sounded as if that might get pulled back to an earlier date if the residence bookings don't fill up.
