Has your billing cycle ended and have you received your statement that includes your stay?
It was a stay at a domestic Le Meridien, if that matters (I don't see why, just thought I'd mention it). |

Yes, the statement is on line, and we also got it in the mail. All the numbers are as I said. I just don't know if Amex is supposed to manually add it to the points they send over to spg - so far they have not, the spg points posted are exactly the dollar amount of our statement.

How does the 30k spend for Gold post as on your SPG account? Does your stay count get automatically incremented by 10 or do I get promoted to Gold and stay at my current stay count?
That is, do I only need 15 stays after getting AMEX Gold to make it to Platinum or do I still have to do 25 stays to make it to Platinum? |
I just called amex and they told me my points have NOT yet been posted to spg...I said yes they have, I see them there, minus the extra for the hotel stay. She said hmmmm, very odd, and said she will investigate.

Your stay count remains the same. You are just automatically upgraded.

Just wanted to report an actual positive experience getting my 15k points for 15k in spending. It just came in after my most recent statement posted - no phone calls necessary.

I had an SPG personal AMEX which I cancelled in 2008. Last December(2009), I received a pre-approved SPG personal AMEX card with 15k SPG bonus points offer after spending $500. So I applied and received the card. Charged $500 on 1st day the card was received. 15k SPG points showed up on my SPG.COM account within 2 days of charging $500. Did not even have to wait for billing cycle to close. Happy.
Yesterday I received another pre-approved SPG personal AMEX (with a different pre-approval code). This offer is again for 15k SPG points but after spending $1000. I know from reading on FT that one can only receive SPG bonus ONLY the first time. But that theory did not apply to me last time since I got 15k points in Dec 2009. What do you think about this offer? Should I apply? I do not have any other AMEX cards except the SPG AMEX card that I got in December 2009. Does anyone have two personal SPG AMEX cards? |
delete due to duplicate posting.

Got my SPG Amex cancelled last year, would like to ask how long would it take for me to be able to apply for another one again and get the bonus, aka churning? It should be stated somewhere in this thread before, but it's simply too long to read everything.

I believe the answer is never. 1 sign up bonus per person. That said, if you had the personal card you can get the bonus on the business card if you haven't already.

I finally received a deposit of points into my SPG account from AMEX, though I'm confused as to how they posted.
First, I recieve two deposits each day they posted 10 days apart 4/9 and then another on 4/19. From what I gathered in the thread I thought they posted once a month. Second, in each deposit I received two seperate postings listed as the following. SPG AX - STARWOOD SPEND CNSMR SPG AX BASE SPEND - CONSUMER (Significantly larger amount) Does anyone know what these mean? |

The SPG AX - STARWOOD SPEND CNSMR is the bonus points for your charges at Starwood properties which should equal the total of all charges at Starwood properties on your current statement. |
I've had an SPG AMEX card for, like, forever. In fact, I think it was a Sheraton card when I signed up. But I haven't been using it lately because I'm using a companion card from my wife's account to help her earn the spending bonus.
Well, my annual fee (now $45) comes due and I call to get it waived, or at least get some points for my money. In years past, I've had it waived because I have other AMEX cards, or I've gotten points just for asking. This time, the agent will do NOTHING for me. He says he has nothing to offer me. So I close the account. I'm not inclined to give them $45 for, well, nothing. I guess AMEX wants to cut back on outstanding credit. Otherwise, their behavior is odd, at least by historical standards. |
