The hotel is part of the Disney Tokyo resort and you can use the monorail to get to either park.
There is a new park wing that has a higher class of rooms, though the same facilities that includes an excellent children's play area that is free for elite members

Taxi to Maihama. Then Train to HND.

Look for train info on www.hyperdia.com

Big suitcases might be a problem though.

Need to be at Haneda at 4:30 am

Any suggestions for a female with 2 suitcases? Is a taxi my only option?

What time is your flight?

For flight that early I would suggest staying the night around HND.

The only disappointment to my recent stay here is that they have reduced the Platinum breakfast benefit.

In the past, breakfast at the extensive Grand Cafe buffet was included but now you'll only get vouchers good for either a buffet in the Summit Lounge or half off the Grand Cafe (¥1650 / adult as the discounted price).

The Summit Lounge breakfast is not bad, but just an unremarkable line of western and asian staples in an unrenovated restaurant at the top of the hotel. It's a full breakfast, but it only has about a quarter of the selection of the Grand Cafe and there is very little day to day variation.

The Grand Cafe breakfast is one of the great strengths of this hotel so it becomes more difficult to recommend this property to other Plats, especially now that it moved to category 6.

Lurkers,

Is this compatible with the SPG Platinum breakfast benefit? I've never heard of a half off benefit?

I can't see why it isn't, but obviously the Lurkers can confirm either way. They are still offering a free (and for that matter, full) breakfast option. They are just choosing to offer an additional option with a cost attached at a different location.

They are still offering a decent breakfast option to Plats for free.

Well that sucks, I will be there for four nights in a couple weeks, I was looking forward to that huge buffet! Guess I should be happy for a full breakfast still. You would think it was costing them more to operate the Summit Lounge than just sending you down to the buffet.

I checked with the SPG Hotel Coordinators on this and they say that it meets SPG's expectations. YMMV.

While this is a little OT, I've stayed twice here and found the experience disappointing. The rooms still feel dated even after the refurb. And for what I'm paying. My go-to hotel for the Tokyo Disney area is still Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel. Love the japanese buffet BF there .

Truth though, I haven't gone since the tsunami.

Had breakfast there as a platinum today (a Monday, not sure if procedures might be different on weekends?). The coupon gave the choice between the Summit Lounge, Toastina (2nd floor) and Grand Cafe (1st floor). Chose the Grand Cafe and had access to the whole buffet.

We stayed for 2 nights (SUN/MON) this week and also had the choice of breakfast places. The coupon did state that it was for a discounted Grand Cafe breakfast so for the first morning we ate at the Summit. We glimpsed Mt. Fuji through the clouds from the 12th floor so this was the highlight of our stay at this hotel.

Second morning we were leaving early for Narita so ate at the Grand Cafe @6.30am (Summit opens at 7). Asked about the discount rate and was told breakfast buffet was included so no extra charge.

Now the bad news

We booked and paid a little extra for an Ocean Dream room on a higher floor hoping for an upgrade and were downgraded at check in!
We arrived late and were too tired to pay attention at checkin and having trekked to our very dated room on the 7th floor (the end room as far from check in and the Summit as you can get) we decided it was not worth the effort to complain and possibly move rooms.

Won't be staying here again!

Were you assigned to a room of another category besides that originally booked?

Is this is a paid reservation?

If the answer to both questions is yes, then perhaps you like to contact Corporate Customer Service to reflect this.

It's really sad that even after the "upgrade" the rooms haven't really improved and yes still appear very dated.

I've always had this lingering suspicion that business is so good that:
1. They can't afford to close down for a proper refurb
2. They know occupancy will be high regardless :P

Is this a "corner room" that is sometimes bigger than the normal rooms, and maybe the staff considers it an "upgrade" despite it being on a lower floor?

But if you are indeed downgraded, I believe you should give a feedback, and I am sure Lurker II will be checking with the SPG coordinator there.

Btw, does your rate includes breakfast, or is it because Plats are given complimentary breakfast?
(I'm confused here as I thought a few others besides you, mentioned it was a "discount coupon" (given to Plats only?) at Grand Cafe, not a full free breakfast there - only at Summit/Lounge is a full free breakfast?)

How was the evening cocktails?

Is getting to Disneyland/DisneySea easy from the hotel?

I will be there next month, so I hope things will turn out better than what have been posted here. I guess I cannot do much about dated rooms, if they have not refurbished for really long.
