Contacted Marriott Customer care via e-mail and they e-mailed back to me: "You do not need anything additional to qualify for this rate. Just show up!" They also sent me a reconfirmation.

I printed both e-mails and will take with me. As far as I am concerned, this is a valid rate.

I would tend to agree. You have done more than your due diligence in making sure the rate is valid and you have a confirmation in writing from Marriott that it is valid.

Enjoy your stay. ^

extra discount

can i just check... when searching for hotel stays (while logged into my MR Elite account) are the rates shown all the available rates including special rates and MR exclusive rates that are available?

OR

is it possible to get extra discounts on the rates shown?

thanks

the rates shown are publically available rates. if you are entitled to a rate that requires ID or has other specialized restrictions, those will not show unless you enter the proper code.

many codes can be found at the start of this thread. if you have a corporate discount, your HR or travel department will know the code.

HR at least in my company wouldn't know diddly squat; those fools would laugh at me if I asked for our corporate code LOL

Or better yet, just check the WSJ... Seems most the Marriott corporate codes are published there. Wouldn't that make them public codes? :)

to assume this would be foolish....as an example I can assure you Ford Motor Company's online booking code with Marriott isn't "F"

In any case, while we can certainly guess quite a few proprietary corporate codes, that doesn't mean that we are entitled to use them. If I can guess someone's credit-card number, can I then order stuff on-line using it? Of course not! :(

Did they shut FRD down?

edited to add: I just googled it so its out there for public search if anyone is interested so I'm not putting anything out here that they can't google
and FYI, i just tried it for kicks and it is still alive

so don't be making statements where you are trying to mislead us

I wasn't suggesting people just willy-nilly book corporate rates. But if your company does have a corportate rate it may be available for personal travel too, rules do vary. I travel with friends that work for other Fortune 100 companies and sometimes I will check their rates before I pitch a trip. Not all the rates specify ID is required. When those that don't are $30-$40/night lower than my best rate it does get tempting. As they say: Knowledge is power.

Not being privy to the terms of the corporate contract, non-business use of corporate discount codes may help the company in negotiating a better contract showing higher useage or hurt them in reducing the number of rooms available for legitimate business travel.

One of the entertaining things about FT is reading the off-the wall conclusions I see posted. I know some are sincere but I think others are just going for the posting count. :)

Given that the folk who responded to your post have a few thousand posts more than you, I doubt it ;) :D

Anyway, since the way I have my page set up, the first post on this page showed ENT as a code in someone's post, which reminded me that I have the card & should check that code when looking at properties. I always forget.

Cheers.

Rate rules: The Comeback, includes wired high-speed internet, Future Free Night certificate, see Rate Rules.

I Google searched for "The Comeback" rate and found no reason that I can't use the rate.

Could you tell us the dates of your reservation? I could really use this for visiting family, but I have been unable to find this rate on the dates I've searched for. Thanks.
