Contacted Marriott Customer care via e-mail and they e-mailed back to me: "You do not need anything additional to qualify for this rate. Just show up!" They also sent me a reconfirmation.
I printed both e-mails and will take with me. As far as I am concerned, this is a valid rate. |

Or better yet, just check the WSJ... Seems most the Marriott corporate codes are published there. Wouldn't that make them public codes? :)

In any case, while we can certainly guess quite a few proprietary corporate codes, that doesn't mean that we are entitled to use them. If I can guess someone's credit-card number, can I then order stuff on-line using it? Of course not! :(

to assume this would be foolish....as an example I can assure you Ford Motor Company's online booking code with Marriott isn't "F"
edited to add: I just googled it so its out there for public search if anyone is interested so I'm not putting anything out here that they can't google and FYI, i just tried it for kicks and it is still alive so don't be making statements where you are trying to mislead us |

I wasn't suggesting people just willy-nilly book corporate rates. But if your company does have a corportate rate it may be available for personal travel too, rules do vary. I travel with friends that work for other Fortune 100 companies and sometimes I will check their rates before I pitch a trip. Not all the rates specify ID is required. When those that don't are $30-$40/night lower than my best rate it does get tempting. As they say: Knowledge is power.
Not being privy to the terms of the corporate contract, non-business use of corporate discount codes may help the company in negotiating a better contract showing higher useage or hurt them in reducing the number of rooms available for legitimate business travel. One of the entertaining things about FT is reading the off-the wall conclusions I see posted. I know some are sincere but I think others are just going for the posting count. :) |

I always forget. Cheers. |

Got an LPR rate at Courtyard San Diego Downtown for $50 per night. Rack rate is $150-225 so it is a bit alarming.
Rate rules: The Comeback, includes wired high-speed internet, Future Free Night certificate, see Rate Rules. I Google searched for "The Comeback" rate and found no reason that I can't use the rate. |
