Agree some discount is better than none.
Sometimes, some property offers a lower rate when NOT using any booking code than either AAA or SR. I usually use NO booking code first, then look at AAA rate & compare.

I do the same. Also, I do what sophiegirl mentioned, which is run through all the publicly available codes (as well as elite if you're entitled to them). Sometimes you can get a better deal; sometimes not. But worth checking them all.

Cheers.

Yep. I do the same. And I check back every once in a while to see if the rates have changed.

We stayed at a Marriott last week, and couldn't really use any Marriott points. So I chose to get the points posted to my Alaska Airlines account. More useful!

I apologize for not understanding but what do you mean you could not really use any points? does this mean that the hotelwould not let you use them or you have so many in your account now that you feel the better reward is the 500 miles?

Rate rule question for promotion code

I plugged in the LPR code from the "public list" (Local Promotional Code) and here's what came up: "Do not book this code for any reason. For Revenue Mgmt to book 4th night eChannel Mirroring" and it basically says it is to override some problem with Travelocity and Orbitz. It's wicked cheap for 1 night with breakfast and spa treatments. Less than even the regular standard night rate. I want to book it but worry that they will then reject it and bump me up to the regular rate ($50 more). If I just book as AAA (I'm a member), I will get better than regular but worse than LPR rate.

Do I have any chance at all of getting the LPR?

Thanks.

The answer to your question is in your post. Just because a rate cames up when code is applied does not mean it is usable. This one clearly is not.

Ritz Codes

Not sure if this is the right spot, but Ritz Carleton is affiliated with Marriott...

The Ritz Carleton has a GOV code for government rate rooms. No MR points on the stay, but a nice treat. I don't know if they have the same guidelines as Marriott properties for gov't stays. I can stay on a gov't rate even if I'm not on official travel.

Marriott Code(s) For Rewards and/or stay

Hi, I am looking to book a three night stay at Marriott Residence Inn for an August wedding. Since I am new to Marriott I thought that I would check with you guys - you seem to know a alot - to see what advise you can give me.

I am looking for a promo code for signing up with Marriott Rewards - is there anything good out there that will give me some bang for my buck?

Also (and probably more importantly)... I am looking for a code for my reservation to save the most money. Either save money each night, get a third night free, or anything that will save me some money.

Thanks in advance for your help.
