Somewhat straying from the topic I apologize. But has anyone ever had a hotel give an upgrade when you message and they say we can guarantee but we will make a note and see on arrival. I rarely ask for an upgrade, except when I am with my family. But 3 days out, I usually send a message if I am, and I usually get a version of that message. I think its their polite way of saying F off.

Comments: Lounge closed, grab and go continental didnt sound great. They said unlikely to reopen due to high elite numbers and not enough space for social distancing. View lounge was quite nice but crowded.

asked for upgrade in advance and told it is noted. Nothing noted at check-in, so I asked and received. Also received a sealed box welcome gift (in addition to points) but have not opened yet.

Comments: Finally hit the upgrade jackpot - not sure whether this was down to returning guest or just very late arrival. As this was a 1.30am check in the best I could manage to make use of the space was 30 minutes sunbathing in the private garden in the morning.

Comments: Interesting hotel, appears to have been refurbished from when it was called the Biltmore. Nice lobby area and bar but the place was pretty empty. The location is a little odd and the entrance is a little hair since it's right at the top of an off-ramp. My suite overlooked a mini-storage facility and an industrial complex, so it was kind of loud. I would probably stick with the Marriott next time.

Comments: I couldn't find any differences between the Urban and Club rooms other than which floor they are on, I guess a higher floor is an upgrade? The room is a bit dated, esp compared to Le Meridien Bangkok. There are no outlets anywhere near the bed. Bath tub is just as deep as the tub in LMBKK, but is only about 70% as long. Bath has fewer amenities, just soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion is provided - I'm used to having more in from a hotel in Thailand. Also, there was an earthquake last night, being on the 21st floor I could feel the whole building swaying and creaking, quite frightening.
