How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

Just curious. Why were the 15 annual nights from CC posted but not the annual 35K certificate?

Has anyone noticed that LT Platinum status supersedes Titanium? I’ve just completed three different stays and all of them thanked me for being platinum but not titanium.

Does anyone know if Marriott issues physical cards for LT statuses other than Platinum/Titanium? Thanks.

What’s the point? Practically every mid to high end credit card give Marriott Gold.

I haven't noticed this. I had a number of Marriott property stays in NYC Sep-Nov 2019 and I was always recognized as a Titanium member.

Still waiting for my LT year counter to tick over. Been stuck at 9 years , even though I crossed 50 nights in the summer and 600 total nights in the Fall. I finished with 114 nights and 675 LT, so I cannot think why. I know I have Titanium again but it might make it mentally easier to stay in some more convenient hotels at times , rather than sticking to Marriott to reach LT status. How long would you leave it before having Marriott look into it. I see from other posts that it has varied from when the 600 night threshold was crossed, when Plat was obtained again last year, on NYE, in February and others like myself where it hasn't happened yet. Personally I have zero faith in Marriott to get it right based upon past experiences.

FYI, as of 1/1/20 Marriott will no longer be giving 10 elite night credits for meetings. See this thread: Marriott Bonvoy Events program January, 2020 and onward

Same, also sitting at 9 yrs plat. I think it took a while to increment last year, but the fact that people in this thread and the "status reset" thread said it incremented overnight on NYE makes me a little skeptical that this is going to resolve itself.

The annual nights always post in January, the certificates posts 8-12 weeks after your credit card anniversary.

On the pre-merger SPG side, the elite nights/stay credits from having a credit card posted in January each year. To the best of my recollection, there were no "free night certs" from having an SPG-affiliated credit card.

On the pre-merger Marriott side, the elite night credits *and* the free night certificates both posted as of the credit card anniversary date.

Looks like the Bonvoy program is granting the elite night credits as of January (following pre-merger SPG practice). And they are following the pre-merger Marriott practice of issuing the free night certificates as of the credit card anniversary date. I have a January 7 credit card anniversary date so I should have my personal data point as of next week sometime.

Since the free night certificate is controlled by Amex or Chase, it doesn't surprise me that the certificates continue to be issued as of the credit card anniversary date (as the free night certificates have a cost-to-the-issuer associated with them.)

It also makes sense for the 15 nights credit to post in January rather than on CC renewal dates since we are limited to one “15 night” deposit regardless of how many CC are held by the account owner. Much simpler algorithm.

Platinum is pretty easy to earn now, but my conclusion is the opposite of yours. I don't think they'll make it harder to get. Instead, I think they'll continue to devalue it. Benefits that Marriott thinks should only go to folks who stay 50-ish actual nights annually will move to Titanium. If they hear from members that those benefits are too difficult to reach, they'll add another 5 or 10 elite-qualifying nights to the card (maybe with a spend requirement) to bring the head-on-pillow requirement back down to 50. Hyatt did almost exactly this, moving Globalist requalification from 55 to 60 and then within a few months including 5 qualification nights with their revamped CC.

Lifetime Platinums who aren't eligible to become Lifetime Titaniums are exactly the group who should be wary of future changes on the way.

How would that work for the great many Bonvoy members internationally who are not in the US and cannot get the 15 qualifying nights by taking out a US credit card?

I know we have much better hotels to enjoy outside the US (modern Courtyards with proper suites and lounges across Asia for example) but at least the 10 nights for a meeting was a globally accessible process. 15 nights for taking out a credit card with a US bank is emphatically not.

Anyway, back to the point, I'm LT Gold and my ticker for Years as Platinum Elite or Higher is still stuck on last year's 7 and hasn't incremented to 8 yet...

so i have almost 700 nights and just got to 2 years as elite. what's the bare minimum I need to maintain for the next 8 years to qualify for LT Platinum Elite? I'd like to move a lot of my nights over to Hyatt. The one million base points for LT globalist will only take about 5-6 years and is very tempting.

To qual for LT Plat, you need 600 nights + 10 years Plat. So 8 more years' Plat.
