The attached W has pretty good service and really strong SPG recognition. I'd definitely recommend anyone considering staying at the SLS look at upgrading to the W instead - it can be as little as $20 for what sounds like an entirely different service experience, a private pool, a great Insider and a larger room. As well as access to all the SLS facilities (I'm fond of Foxtail in season).

I'm booking for an week's event next year, sure glad I read this. Hope the Westin has decent rooms and comfy bed.

I think I might be the only person out there that would rank the SLS above the W. I found the customer arrive at the W to be terrible, plus I had a much nicer and larger room at the SLS. I thought the Westin was so-so. (I stayed in both the SLS and W in February and the Westin in July.)

A $15 breakfast token at the reasonably good SLS restaurant, though in practice I was allowed to use it for any breakfast and drink that I had for totals around $20. Plats also get 2 free drinks at the W pool or the bar and occasionally a token for a fortune telling machine type thing which sometimes gets me another couple of drinks.

SLS breakfast is a credit at the restaurant, which can be used any time of the day. (Good for the 3pm breakfasts which often happen in Vegas)

So, will I be sorry!! I booked a rate today for $16.00 / Night! Not sure if it was a New Years Day promotion or what?
I couldn't resist for that price - Just not at all crazy about the convenience of this place. I usually stay at the Westin and can walk out the doors to restaurants and the strip in minutes. I am golfing for three of the six days and also found there is an Enterprise Car Rental on site.
I guess I can buy a Monorail pass and suck it up for once? I think!! Just read some super horrible customer service issues here and some brutal rooms? ........but again for $16.00?
Is there anything outside of these doors like a 7-11 or anything? What about the Plat benefits - I see they are hit and miss. The Plat breakfast - where is it and what does it entail?
I'm going solo so I guess I will deal with it..........if my wife was joining me it sounds like it could be grounds for divorce!
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have stayed here a few times lately- but all before the attached W was finished. Breakfast is fine, but you’ll have to pay a little. The attached monorail is a big plus for me as my venue is the Convention Center 3 stops away. I, too, would not take my wife here, but I am staying for $71 a night in March (+ the pesky resort fee). I don’t particularly like the hotel, but I like the convenience, the breakfast and the aggressive pricing.

Yup.......$16.00/Night.......it was on the SPG website all day yesterday. I noticed it is gone now as rates are at $91.00 or something like that now. I'm surprised you didn't see those rates as I seen them on the site still in the early parts of the evening.
My golfing will not be close by but I will rent a car from the Enterprise counter at the hotel. I understand parking is free here.
You mentioned breakfast is fine but you will have to pay a little? What do you mean by that - so I am assuming no PLAT benefit for breakfast.
So in essence I will be out of the hotel for 3 days for golfing.......In the mornings wouldn't mind just getting some sun at the pool and relaxing then I guess I will have to jump on the monorail to go play some poker and such and grab a cab back or monorail if I'm back before 2:00 a.m. I have never rode this thing - is it safe in the wee hours of the morning?
All in all with the cabs and such I still will be saving a significant wad with this cheap rate - I'm probably looking at a $400+ difference right now if I booked the Westin. I just like having the options and convenience of the Westin even just popping over to Ellis Island when I'm solo for a quick bite to eat. Don't need a bunch of fancy restaurants when I'm alone.

Just spent one night here as part of a layover. It was a short stay, but surprised to see so many bad reviews on here as I was pretty impressed.
I would probably never stay here on a proper Vegas trip, since the location is out of the way, and there are enough cheap options in central Strip locations that you just don't save enough staying out of the way to make up for the hassle. But, out-of-the-way locations can have other benefits in Vegas if you're price-sensitive, like for example that the SLS minibar was surprisingly reasonably priced by Vegas standards, and the casino table minimums are on the low side.
I was very impressed by Platinum recognition at check-in, with the agent proactively offering to look for suite upgrades and offering me a junior suite in the Story tower, and then also explaining that the decor there was somewhat polarizing and then also offering me a standard room in the World tower. I took the latter, so I can't comment on the issues mentioned upthread with the Story tower, but I was very happy with the room in the World tower, especially considering it's a very old building -- you couldn't tell that at all from the room; they did a very good job with a thorough, deep renovation (which isn't always how things are done in Vegas -- see how the Planet Hollywood still has door handles and sink knobs shaped like lamps from when it was the Aladdin, for example). No coffee maker in the room and a spring-loaded minibar with no room for your own items in the fridge, but that's the annoying par for the course in Vegas. Bed was comfortable and bathroom big and modern.
The letter I got at check-in also specified that Platinums get an additional 1,000 bonus points per stay on top of your choice of 500 points or breakfast, and a "gift basket" which I never did receive but I understand is supposed to consist of some extra water bottles and snacks. All of which is far above and beyond what I might expect a Vegas property to do for elites.
