Based upon what you've reported and some other similar reports with regard to this property that I've unburied in my email inbox, I think there is a technical issue preventing the attachment of SNA's there. I've opened a ticket with SPG Tech on it. If I hear back on that, I'll be glad to update the thread.
while my regular ambassador remains out of office, i received another reply from a different ambassador letting me know that she got in touch with the property & they informed her that while they still have the standard suite available for sale during my stay, they are no longer offering suite nights at this time but i could use 25k points per night to reserve that suite....
just seems strange that a property that is participating in suite night awards & has a suite available would not offer the suite using a sna but would offer it using points....

here is a quote from the email i got:
I called The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel and they still have suites available. However, they are no longer offering suite night awards for this time. If you would like a king executive suite the rate will be $319.00 per night plus taxes or 25,000 points per night.

not planning on spending extra....just seems like a violation of the t&c if a standard suite is available & the property is selling or allowing redemption but won't let you use the suite night award for it....

I was there last April for 1st JazzFest weekend. Stay was okay, a few minor issues. Paid Cat 3 points for deluxe room since regular not available. No Club lounge access for Gold.
Are things much better after the upgrade? I booked Westin this time for French Quarter Fest. Actually had Sheraton for first 2 nights as deluxe Cat 3 for 8K and Westin for 3 nights but could not get them all at Sheraton. End up consolidating at Westin for 5th night free award but very soon after it also shown Sheraton as available but my combined reservation was within 3 days so not changable. Also I think Westin is closer to French Quarter Fest locations.

Just wanted to give my review of the Sheraton on Canal during Mardi Gras 2014. I was pleased with the hotel and how organized they were with so many people in town for the festivities.
Access to the hotel common areas is strictly enforced to hotel guests only. At check in we were given wristbands which were checked everytime we entered. As a platinum we were assigned a club level room and it was well maintained and spacious, though very Sheraton cookie cutter, so if you are looking for a room with NOLA character, then this place may not be the place for you.
The club lounge was a bit crazy from 930-10am since they closed at 10am for breakfast and all the late sleepers were rushing in at that last minute. It had hot and cold items included scrambled eggs, grits, oatmeal, fruit, bagels and deli meats. Only went to breakfast once, so don't know what they had the other two days
There was a revised Mardi Gras room service menu in the room, which was more basic, but the prices seemed more reasonable as well. They were also selling hot food in the lobby if you wanted to grab a sandwich or snack to take on to the parade route.
Housekeeping and staff were leaps and bounds better than my stay at the W Poydras two years ago.
Be aware that parking is a problem in and around the Sheraton during Mardi Gras so if you can avoid renting a car during Mardi Gras then do so. Cabs are plentiful and also remember that pedicabs can sometimes get you to places quicker than a traditional cab, especially for short distances.
In comparison to the W Poydras for Mardi Gras, this was head and shoulders better. The W lobby was full of non guests and it was a LONG wait for an elevator. Rooms were dirty and housekeeping was terrible. Room service at the W during Mardi Gras was delivered in styro food containers. At the W we were never recognized as a Platinum where at the Sheraton we got our 500 points and a special Mardi Gras welcome bag with two pralines, two bags of Zapp's chips and a full size bottle of Tobasco sauce, which I thought was a nice touch.

I've just had the most astonishingly bad pre-stay service I've ever had from SPG. Really amazing.
My credit card just got cloned (again!) meaning that booking on the SPG.com website was with an invalid card. I got an email full of spelling errors asking me to call a number with an extension to give new card details... which went through to a fax machine.
I eventually got another email which actually looked like it was written by a drunk child from North Korea giving me the correct phone number. I went to SPG.com to get the confirmation code and it turned out they'd cancelled my booking as it had taken over 2 days to get the card details over.
Time to book a different hotel.

Sheraton at New Orleans
Have an upcoming 3 nights stay at Sheraton New Orleans. Noticed the last thread on this property was back in 2004
Has anyone stayed there lately? Also noticed the parking is a little bit expensive, $40+ overnight. Is there any city garage or stree parking nearby?
Thanks

It's a great hotel - right near the french quarter and with new rooms and lounge.

Just responding to jhzwtx's question (which I assume will get merged into this thread). My stay last month was fine, but it was only 1 night with an afternoon checkout. I didn't have a car, but I think there are several garages south of the hotel. Try this link. tttps://www.google.com/maps/search/sheraton+,+new+orleans,+la+to+parking+garage/@29.9534892,-90.0728866,16z/data=!3m1!4b1
