I'd love to try this new Moxy in September but it's still not bookable... anyone has any idea how the renovations are advancing locally? it's supposed to open in April from what the website says so I'm a bit surprised (or not) it's not bookable yet.

**EDIT** they just updated their opening date to July 2024...

Wow - a Conrad gets a downgrade to a Residence Inn? This has got to be the first time for such a conversion.

It's also the second Conrad Chicago to leave Hilton in the past ten years. There was another Conrad Chicago a few blocks away which became the Gwen Luxury Collection in 2015.

If you look at the reviews for Conrad Chicago (Part Deux), you’ll see it wasn’t much of a loss.

My local friends from Shanghai told me there's construction project in Liyang, (a subdistrict in Changzhou)around 150 miles away from Shanghai that includes both new St.Regis and Banyan Tree hotels but I cannot find any English source from Marriot on the google confirming that.

Commitbiz Apr 15, 2024 4:24 am

Has it happened?

I think I may have found the original announcement website, here's the link https://www.changzhou.gov.cn/ns_news/792160082111707. The website was in Chinese so remember to do the web translation.

Some conversions are on the horizon for Japan. An extra seven hotels will join but honestly, most of them look like they need a lot of capital to bring them up to Marriotts standard.

Joining the Marriott brand:
Grand Hotel Hamamastu
Hotel Heian no Mori Kyoto
Hotel Crown Palais Kobe
Rizzan Seapark Hotel Tancha Bay

Joining the Courtyard brand:
Hotel Pearl City Kobe
Hotel Crown Palais Kokura
Hotel Crown Palais Kitakyushu

I'm happy we will get some more Marriott hotels in Kobe finally. Especially the Hotel Crown Palais is in a very good location.
On the other hand, the Hotel Pearl City Kobe is again on an island (like the Kobe Bay Sheraton) und just too far away. I wish they would stop that.
