How are nights at the Four Points Flex counted, by the website is 2 nights = 1 elite night, so if I stay overnight do I get 0 elite nights?

Hawwk Jan 16, 2025 4:02 am

Correct. No stay credit for 1N, one night stay credit for two nights etc.

On the map, looks like a great location central to Hyde Park, Selfridges, and Marble Arch.

Anyone know anything about the Protea Hotel Umfolozi River? Did it deflag or close? It's still on the Marriott website, but not taking reservations.

Hi GOP_Tiger,

Thanks. I'm sure it would be helpful to others if the website indicated that.

Towneplace Suites, Downtown San Jose

From Hospitality.net:

The TownePlace Suites San Jose will boast a range of top-tier amenities designed to enhance the guest experience. This state-of-the-art new build will feature a rooftop lounge where guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the city. The expansive gym will be equipped with the latest fitness technology and equipment. Guests also will enjoy complimentary breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi and onsite laundry.
From the Merc:

The hotel is located at 495 West San Carlos St., just a few blocks from the San Jose Convention Center and down the street from SAP Center, where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang delivered a keynote address for the 2024 conference.

“We are expecting to open the hotel in March,” said Eric Hayden, founder and managing partner with Urban Catalyst.

The Urban Catalyst affiliate that owns the hotel property received a $48 million loan from Poppy Bank in 2023 to finance construction of the eight-story hotel, according to documents on file with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.

San Jose-based Urban Catalyst has taken steps to ensure hotel construction is on enough of a fast track to finish in time for planned Nvidia events downtown. Nvidia GTC is scheduled to occur March 17-21, according to a post on the company’s website.

Hello, this property is under renovation and is closed and evacuated as of December 25, 2024. There is no opening date yet, although it is waiving cancellations.

the Four Points by Sheraton San Diego Downtown Little Italy has left Marriott
It is now The Dextro Hotel, Best Western Premier Collection

https://www.hospitalitynet.org/annou.../41012096.html
(the photo in the article above is wrong, it's a different hotel in San Diego)

A few new hotels have appeared on the marriott.com website:
- The Doubletree San Diego Downtown Hotel is set to become a Courtyard. Since it is currently flagged as The Little Italy Hotel San Diego, I guess they plan some renovations before officially taking on the new brand.
- An ex-Best Western Plus and currently Sky Point Hotel near Atlanta Airport is set to rebrand to the Four Points by Sheraton College Point Atlanta Airport.
- W Chicago Downtown has rebranded to the The Midland Hotel - Tribute Portfolio. I guess, it was really run down to rebrand to a lower tier.
- Another Doubletree is set to join Marriott, this time a property in Columbus, Ohio. Currently branded as Capital Suites Hotel, it will become a Delta following a renovation.
- A new built Autograph Collection will open in the coming months. The property is located in the little town of Affalterbach, Germany, not too far from Stuttgart. The little town is home of AMG, the performance car division of Mercedes Benz. The property looks rather interesting and is for now called Das Affalterbach.
- The Marriott Crystal City at Reagan Airport will rebrand to AC Hotel. Before being fully integrated into the new brand, it is called the National Landing Hotel Crystal City.
- A new built AC Hotel Ottawa Downtown located in the Byward Market District will join a tired lineup of Marriott properties in the Canadian Capital - a welcome addition!

This hotel is quite weird. It's in the middle of the Affalterbach industrial area, in between AMG and HWA office buildings. The main entrance faces AMG logistics center where trucks are constantly coming and going.
Pretty much nothing is around and Stuttgart is a 20 min drive away.
I hope they have some kind of incentive for AMG customers (factory pick-up) or locals for brunch. Looks like the developement had some issues, the jobsite was idle for about a year and work just recently picked up again.

More details: https://dasaffalterbach.com/en/. The Marriott page points at the wrong address. This is the correct one: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KkTY6waEx533MVy56
