Not sure if I like this move as this was my favorite Courtyard in the system... Pretty sure it will reopen with a dreaded resort fee and all sort of other fees... 😡

Didn't it just undergo extensive renovations?

The Marriott Stanton in South Beach is a great value, especially since it isn't a "resort."

Marriott (and I'm not counting SPG) has 71 properties in the UK. That's not that bad. It's never going to match Premier Inn, but given PI is a really basic limited service property in the U (aka, the equivalent of Fairfield Inn). I'm stunned you'd consider even staying at a PI given all your posts on the other threads.

Cheers.

This is exciting: deal signed today between Kuala Lumpur-based YTL and Marriott for four new hotels including the following:
  • Second JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • The Kuala Lumpur EDITION, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • The Niseko EDITION, Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan
  • W Niseko, Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan
Source: https://www.thestar.com.my/business/...international/

Good stuff! An official announcement from Marriott should be out imminently.

I don't see the market for a second J.W. Marriott in Kuala Lumpur. I get that J.W. Marriott has a lot of cachet in Asia but it seems like it would be better to launch a new hotel under one of the many Marriott brands than launch a second J.W. Marriott.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Windsor, ON

Opened a few weeks ago.

Besides being the first Marriott (or Starwood) property in Windsor, it's also of note as a Category 1. With spring weekend rates around $189 CAD (~$146 USD), that seems like a heck of a use of 7500 points.

Looks to be a renovated and re-branded Quality Suites.

What will it be?

The Sheraton Herndon Dulles Airport is being converted into a Courtyard. I found this while reading TripAdvisor reviews.

The GM said the conversion would be finished at the end of the year, but I am not sure if they are on schedule. If you click for additional information on the link below, you will see the comment left by the reviewer with the associated photo and the GM’s reply stating the hotel renovation and conversion.

Nothing, as far as I know. I heard it was because the owners didn't want to do a renovation.

The two hotels—SpringHill caters to leisure and business travelers, TownePlace would be an extended stay hotel—would share amenities, including a rooftop with an "8,000-square-foot garden overlooking Canal Street with an outdoor bar, exercise room, guest laundry area and penthouse area."

The hotels are slated to be complete "sometime in mid-2017."

Now listed as opening Feb 2018, with booking now available starting mid-March.

Anyone want to invest in a hotel? Found the perfect independent 3-star property in a heritage building in Paris that could easily become a 4-star Autograph Collection property.

I wonder what renovations a property has to do to re-flag from Luxury to Autograph. I wonder if that's a sign that Luxury Collection will be folded into Autograph Collection.
