Delta hotel to open in North Goa, India.

On a dif note but regarding India "With plans to open 15-20 new hotels per year over the next five years in India....With disposable incomes increasing and the thirst for newer experiences, Marriott International is looking at locations like Siliguri, Indore, Belagavi, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Kochi. "We have a lot of supply in big markets," he said. "It is not just the Tier-II cities but we are now moving to Tier-III markets. Tertiary markets are the next big thing, that's where we see maximum opportunity to expand and that's where we see a lot of our mid-tier brands growing."

El Paso, TX - Hotel Paso Del Norte, Autograph Collection (opening April 2018)

According to the street address given on the Marriott website, the upcoming Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington will be at the site of the (former??? The building still has the sign, but it doesn't seem to be bookable) Crowne Plaza Minneapolis Airport West (not the same as the Crowne Plaza Aero, which is much closer to the airport, on the light rail line, and will include the relocated NWA History Center museum). It's a six story building from 1970 with 253 rooms which was put up for sale at some point. IMO to make this old tired hotel into a Renaissance the best plan would be to tear it down completely, which might be consistent with the goal of opening in February 2018 (long after the Super Bowl).

The location is just south (across I-494) from the Sheraton Bloomington (former Sofitel) and near a bunch of cheaper chain hotels, roughly halfway between the US169 and MN100 intersections, but closest to the East Bush Lake Road exit. It's next to some nice looking newish suburban office buildings (with a decent restaurant and bar) that face a small lake. Otherwise there's nothing nearby. The distance to the airport would be almost ten miles, all along an expressway subject to bad traffic jams but there are some tricks using side streets.

Thanks for the input. Doesn't sound like it's a tear-down/more a remodel if the CP sign is still on it & it's opening in 6 months. And good info on the traffic/location. When the property gets closer to opening I'll start a thread on it & perhaps you can cut/paste part of what you've posted here & put it in the property thread.

Cheers.

According to Google Maps, it looks more like a new built right next to the Crowne Plaza you mention.

Maybe, but that Crowne Plaza doesn't seem to be operating and a while ago they were trying to sell the building. The address seems right, although the Crowne Plaza had some funky official address on a side street versus the actual physical address at 5X00 American Boulevard West. The Crowne Plaza apparently had two towers. I don't think there's room in the block for an additional building large enough for a hotel unless they tear down an adjacent newer parking garage in good condition that seems to be used by an office building on the other side. Also, more importantly, I didn't see any signs of construction activity whatsoever in the immediate area.
