There's a new springhill suites and towneplace suites being built around Disney World (florida) right near the ESPN wide world of sports. Being built by JL Properties, in what is called "Flamingo Crossings." Whole area was originally supposed to be built in 2007 but then the economy took a dive, so they restarted it. Hotels are supposed to open in Jan 2016.

Both properties will be category 4 hotels.

"Melbourne’s (Australia) Docklands precinct will play home to the first new-build Australian Marriott hotel in almost 20 years with the five-star Marriott Melbourne Docklands property firmly on the horizon.

Part of a $250 million development project and subject to planning approvals, the hotel will reside on Waterfront Way atop the existing Harbour Town shopping centre and Waterfront City, complete with a rooftop infinity pool plus bar and dining areas open to the public.

Roughly 200 rooms are earmarked for the Docklands hotel in addition to 260 residential apartments spanning 36 levels"

Also in development in the family nearby: Four Points Melbourne Docklands* and Ritz Carlton Melbourne. This hotel is scheduled to open in 2019.

AC Hotel by Marriott - Portland, Maine
 

Project keeps moving along slowly - Portland Maine.

Portland Norwich Group, a subsidiary of Norwich Partners, which has offices in Lebanon, N.H., and Sanibel, Fla., plans to construct a 150-room AC Hotel by Marriott with 16 condominiums and roughly 4,000 square feet of restaurant or retail space on half of the vacant lot.

3 hotels to open up in Columbus OH in 2017.

Three new Marriott hotels are currently under construction, including the Renaissance Westerville, and a shared-services setup between Marriott and Residence Inn on Olentangy River Road.

The shared-amenity setup at the Olentangy River Road Marriott and Residence Inn is the first of its kind in the country. Both hotels will have separate entrances and lobbies, but they will retain shared access to meeting rooms, the fitness center, pool and dining areas. The hotels are expecting to service visitors to The Ohio State University and Riverside Hospital.

In Westerville, the new eight-story Renaissance hotel will be positioned within the Westar development at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Polaris Parkway, marking the city’s first full-service hotel and conference center. The hotel will service visitors and workers in the Polaris and Westerville areas.

All three hotels are scheduled to open in 2017.

Meanwhile, the City of Dublin just approved a new AC Hotel by Marriott that is also expected to open in 2017, and another AC Hotel by Marriott has been proposed for the Park Street area in Downtown Columbus.

Not sure if this has been reported here, but SV Group (who already has quite a few Marriott franchises including the CY/RI Munich) intends to add two more Marriott hotels in Munich, a 150 room Moxy and a 72 room Residence Inn in the Munich Werkviertel, however no more details are available, especially in regard to the expected completion date...

A 140-room hotel at Market and Shelby streets in the NuLu neighborhood will be an AC Hotel by Marriott, opening late 2017 in Louisville KY.

Marriott has uploaded a few new hotels on its website over the weekend.

- Hotel LeVeque - Autograph Collection, Columbus, OH (Marriott Website), new hotel occupying a few floors in a refurbished business tower.
- AC Hotel San Jose Downtown, San Jose, CA (Marriott Website), new built property.
- Paradox Hotel - Autograph Collection, Santa Cruz, CA (Marriott Website, Hotel Website), this hotel is a few years old, operating under the same name at this time and it is being refurbished before joining the Autograph Collection brand.
- Renaissance Uluwatu Resort, Bali, Indonesia (Marriott Website), looks like a brand new property as well.
- JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, Canada (Marriott Website), new urban resort project in downtown Vancouver.

It is a category 5 like the Fairfield Inn in Brunswick, Maine. It is on the location of the old Holiday Inn in Bath Maine.

This is the closest chain hotel to Boothbay Harbor region or if you are heading up the coast to Acadia and need a stop over. Probably 45 minutes from the Portland, Maine airport.
