Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Generally that's not a problem with any Vegas buffet. They're not going to kick you out. I haven't tried it here but have at several other Vegas buffets, especially on the first day of a trip when a 4-hour time change makes me hungry in the middle of the afternoon. I think Wicked Spoon used to close for a couple hours in the afternoon but if they're now open all day, then it shouldn't be an issue. I noticed that Friday- Sunday dinner pricing starts at 3:00, probably to discourage this practice.

As they should. Seems likeBacchanal at Caesars changes their pricing at 2:00 I think haha

But since wicked spoon is from 4:00. I might as well take advantage. Or try to. I’ll report back if I get kicked out or ask to pay a price difference

You will not be shunted out or charged more at 4pm but don't expect that everything that comes with the dinner menu will appear on the dot of 4pm - one time I was there during the changeover the crab legs didn't walk out until 4.30pm

Does the refundable deposit charged upon making a reservation count for the SPG Luxury card's $300 annual Marriott/SPG statement credit ?

Staying here now. Despite being Super Bowl weekend, I was upgraded from a terrace city view to one bedroom fountain view. Great room.
The Autograph Lounge is basically a coffee machine and you can ask at the desk in the lounge for bottled water.

3) 15% discount at Wicked Spoon plus the use of the express line for free

4) 2 PM check out

5) Free use of the Autograph lounge

Hope this helps those of you who are Platinum.

Happy Holidays!

1) so it doesnt matter what level of platinum anyone is? all starriot plats get the same benefit? anyone find the lounge agents better than the normal front desk? heard it almost doesnt make a difference except you get drinks at the lounge.

2) anyone know if parking if free for guests now? should have been since jan 1st.

3) any recent DP about starriot pts and EQN posting correctly at cosmo? i have always avoided this place regardless of the raving fans because i have been reading countless DP about issues. sometimes its OK, but not every time. thats a huge biotch.

4) since you can not receive both starriot credits and ID credits (must pick one), what is the ultimate strategy to book/spend/receive points here?

im thinking to use FHR, Chase Lux Hotel Collection, virtuoso with my starriott PP initially to book to get the starriott plat and/or TAgency benefits (use amex cc for FHR or chase cc LHR or any cc w/ virtuoso). tip front desk agent for potential awesome upgrade. then for all the spend i do onsite, i dont charge my room (except for the benefits from TA), but i pay directly, then bring the receipts to the ID desk for ID points since you cant get any starriott points. now you get both set of points. then after the stay, call starriott to complain my EQN and points didnt post.

anything else?

Good luck getting away with fraud. Stories like this are exactly why hotels keep cracking down on their programs and taking away any grey areas that might benefit folks from time to time.

Another nice stay at this property. Booked FHR for the free breakfast and got an excellent upgrade from fountain view studio to fountain view suite. Had Amex agent add my Marriott number to the reservation too, and my Marriott Plat was indeed acknowledged at front desk though no additional benefits over FHR (and FHR is more than Plat anyway)

This time around was post-merge and post-Bonvoy, and the stay actually posted after about a week, correct points and everything. Better than last time where I had to call an agent to get it to actually post.

A nit was that even though I provided the Identity card to a few restaurants when I paid, they either didn't actually swipe it or it didn't register. I assumed they processed correctly and didn't save the receipts... lesson learned for next time to just show up to the Identity desk at the end of the stay to add them all. I would have gotten bumped up to the 1st tier status with free parking too...

appreciate your DP. have a few questions:

1) since i always see this prop under FHR "Please call 1-800-525-3355 to book this hotel". i assume thats what you did? and also you prepaid for 5x MR?

2) a few DPs mention amex 5x MR FHR prepay does NOT get any credit automatically for programs like hyatt or marriott. YMMV. but sounds like you still got credit even though you prepaid for amex FHR? thats good news. can you clarify what you got points for? at the cosmo, the TC mention you only get points for room cost, mini-bar, telephone, and room service purchases, but NOT onsite spend like dining charged to the room.

3) did you try settling the folio without an amex? or using a combo or amex and other CC? i know its YMMV based on FDesk agent, but curious how strict they are at the cosmo.

4) guests who pay the resort fee are supposed to get free parking since JAN. did you have to pay?

5) is the FHR daily breakfast still working the same way at the Wicked Spoon Buffet? meaning the full buffet amount is covered via voucher or is it just removed from your folio at the end?

thank you.

1) Last time I booked I was able to do it through the online portal, but yea this time I had to call the number. Kind of annoying. It made me put down a partial deposit at booking time (I stayed two nights, it was roughly one night's worth), and the rest charged after I arrived. If that means I only get 5x on the deposit then darn... guess I'll think ahead for that next time

2) We charged salon services to the room, and that did post for Marriott points, which was consistent with my last visit which got points for salon & spa services. I've always just paid CC directly for restaurants... I think only some of the on-property locations allow for room charges anyway.

3) The front desk straight up offered to let me change the card to whatever I wanted. I figured I would just keep it on Amex this time more as an experiment to see if everything went through as 5x, since that would be better earning than either the SPG lux or CSR... still waiting for my statement to see if it indeed does post 5x.

4) Ah really? I was just going off of the Identity tier page... maybe you don't have to pay resort fee yet still get parking with that level. I flew in this time, but always tell myself I'll drive at some point (based in LA), or rent a car so I can explore some of the rocks & canyons on a longer visit.

5) You still charge the full buffet to the room, but it never ends up on your folio (i.e. not just credited back but not there in the first place). I think that's the same as last time too.

Actually I take back 2. Checked the folio and the earnings again and I got some weird number that doesn't really line up with anything. It's less than the total folio, but it's not only the room charges... not just room + resort fee... not just the total minus deposit... I'll fool around with excel to see what the hell they did...

And edit, nevermind. I didn't look at the updated folio that included some extra room charges. Looks like this time they only gave me credit for the room charges & minibar. Last time I had to get the folio manually credited by Marriott support and they gave me the entire spa credit too... no dice this time. So it got auto-posted, but with less points. I'll probably bother support since I didn't get Identity points either...!

thank you so much for the quick response! super helpful.

very good information about your elite credits and points. totally sucks that charging things to your room doesnt get more points, but room and minibar sounds about right based on the TC. hopefully, calling marriott will get you those "extra" spa points as it will become more YMMV. did you get the 15% off? super curious if you can use the spa credit + 15% off for double dip overpriced services.

as you had mentioned earlier, its always best to visit the ID desk at the end of your visit and give them your receipts for all property spend because charging it to your room will not get you points besides whats listed in the TC. then you can transfer to marriott @ 2500 ID for 2000 marriott in 500 increments. but some do value keeping ID pts for property spend at 1 cpp.

you will only get 5x MR for payments made directly via the FHR portal online. NOT over the phone. meaning, you will see "AMEX FINE HOTELS RES" as the vendor. otherwise, your charges onsite will come directly from the cosmo. so you should use one of the marriott CCs or CSR or prestige or anything else for hotel spend because you will not get 5x MR w/ plat.

lastly, everyone has to pay the resort fee on the marriott side. even for award stays regardless of tier. totally stupid. thats why i love hyatt glob. free parking and no resort fees for award stays. but at the cosmo, higher casino tiers do waive the resort and parking fees, but the parking is free for all guests and its a new policy so I was curious if it was working as described on their website (https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/parking) - Registered hotels guests receive complimentary self-parking.

thank you again for the info!

3/25/19 stay as Bonvoy Gold Elite got me an upgrade from Mountain View Studio Terrace to Belligiao Fountain View 1 bed terrace. Gold Eite can check-in in the “invited guests” line. Received complementary water at check-in. Also received complementary late check-our for 1pm. Gold Elite can also use Wicked Spoon “VIP” line.
