Further to this post I was contacted by the Aegean Airways Customer Relations Manager.
Things have now been cleared up and I am happy with Aegean Airways responses and the good will they showed to try to minimize the inconvenience we suffered by the cancelation of their flights.
Its great to see that Hotels and Airlines are attentive to the Flyertalk.

#1 I'm pleased that a rep from the hotel isn't just available but accessible and prompt and courteous. ^ to that and it will earn my business at some point.

#2 Aegean Air sounded like a gamble at first but glad they stepped up. I would have thrown my hands in the air at 1500 more euros for my trip. Glad it worked out.

Dear JFKSFOLAX,

We have received several reviews on TripAdvisor and on Booking.com should you be interested in reading about our past guests experiences. We also have some guests who have described their stay on our Facebook wall.

However The Westin, due to the shorter length of time it has been open, has not received as many reviews as the Romanos. The links are as follows;

Tripadvisor The Romanos - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...loponnese.html

Booking.com The Westin - http://www.booking.com/hotel/gr/the-...f717108cdc71f7

I hope this is of assistance to you,

Hello lucozade,

My apologies for the delay in response. Breakfast is included in almost all of the rate plans for both of the hotels.

It is our policy to upgrade Platinum SPG members however it is also possible to upgrade using Starpoints, the number of points vary depending on the upgrade category itself.

If you require more specific information please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind regards,

Leah,

thank you very much for your pro-active web communication in this community! I find it very open-minded that you share the tripadvisor links, given that the Romanos does not score high points in service categories... yet. I trust these are teething issues and will be sorted eventually. I will stop by in the weeks to come and cannot wait...

Hello Mag,

First of all thank you for your kind comment. One of the underlying principles of both Starwood and Costa Navarino is honesty in our business practices which is why I chose to share the links openly with the forum.

Our guests opinions are very important to us, and although we have received some negative reviews every comment is very valuable in helping identify areas for improvement as we move forward in our first season. Please rest assured we are working hard to improve the service experience at both properties.

Our team looks forward to welcoming you to Costa Navarino.
Kind regards,

The responses in this thread by the hotel representative are among the best of any hotel representative I have seen (also compared to the usual canned responses other hotels have at Tripadvisor. The hotel looks fancy. Might try it out one day.

Hoping to book a stay there for a couple of weeks time but only suites showing up at the moment at 1800 (ouch!) per night.

I echo your sentiments on Leah. She has been very helpful and responsive to any queries. If this customer care is representative of the hotel in general, it should turn out to be a great property.

Getting around.
Quote:
For getting around you have several options, for those wishing to rent a car we have an agreement in place with Hertz who offer our guests preferential rates and have a booth in the resort. You can of course organize to pick your car up from the airport.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you would like any further clarification on the above.

Leah,

may I ask a question about the rental car offer in the resort?
At which rates is Hertz offering the cars?

And how much would an airport pickup / transfer service be in case we do not rent a car at KLX?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Mag,

I'm not sure if you were thinking of renting a car for your whole stay or just to drive to/from the resort, but we have an arrangement in place with Hertz whereby you can rent a car to drive from Kalamata to the resort from 61 (the price relates to the category of car). The drive is about 50km or 31 miles.

Taxis cost from 75 to 85 depending on the time of day and amount of luggage.

If you would like more information please see http://www.romanoscostanavarino.com/...port_transfers or let me know and I'll see what I can do to help

Hope this helps!
