I stayed here the other night and must admit I'm not overly fond of the place. There was nothing terrible about any aspect of my stay, but there was nothing particularly great either. From the outside, this hotel looks similar to the new build Sheratons, but that's about where the newness stops. The hallways are dismal and worn. I can't really place my finger on what exactly it was about the room I was given (240-Handicapped Suite) but it just felt old, not grimy, dirty, or worn, but old. Perhaps it was the frosted glass window on the doors reminiscent of office doors you see in old movies on television. Maybe it was the low lighting in the room. Maybe it was the very shallow though wide windows with the heavy roll down burlap feeling curtains. I did not partake of the evening offerings, so do not know what was offered or the quality, but I did have breakfast both the morning of arrival and the morning of departure. It was a substantial breakfast with fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, bread, and pastries, but I find the breakfast at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport and Sheraton Ontario Airport to be a bit better.

I agree that the hallways are in a great need of a steam clean or new carpet. It looks as if in the winter that people placed their snow/dirt covered shoes outside their door as there is a big puddle stain on the carpet in front of many doors. There was also a mention that the hotel on the weekend is like a cruise, there are at least 14 kids around the age of 10 years old running up and down the club level halls in their swimsuits.

I had a somewhat disturbing/awkward incident the other night. I walked into the lounge on the club level floor and the maintenance man was in the corner on the computer surfing porn. When he saw me he turned off the computer and quickly walked out of the room. I check out tomorrow morning, is this something I should mention to the management? I've had an otherwise normal stay, the employees have been very friendly this week.

I'm staying here Friday for an early MR Saturday morning out of BWI. For 3000 points, ANY room is worth it for me not to drive to BWI for a 715am flight (from Arlington, VA). I'll report on the good/bad of this hotel. Hopefully it's picked up a little bit as the recently comments are pretty bad.

I think you'll be okay for a one night stay. The rooms aren't bad and the manager was very friendly to me.

As mentioned above, had a stay here last night. Staff was friendly, though no mention of platinum status, "upgraded to club floor", no mention of club lounge. Went up to find that it was open and had some apps, inquired at front desk and they said it was open 7 days a week. Had dinner at the restaurant, it was ok, bartender was good. Walked over to the Westin to have a few drinks, much more vibrant there, good service as well. Best part about this hotel was that the shuttle to the airport was only a 5 minute ride. For 3000 points, this is a now my BWI-morning-flight property now, will be back.

Anyone know if the shuttle here or at the Aloft will drive you to the bus stop where you can pick up the transfer to the metro station to get into DC? Is there an easier, cheaper way to get into DC from this hotel?

Hi everyone - any updates? Thinking of staying at Sheraton BWI this weekend but still can't figure out if the Westin BWI is better when reading that thread.

I stayed here twice last year and I remember the airport shuttle being super fast as it is shared with a few hotels including the next door Westin. I got upgraded to a suite twice and the room was pretty modern, very Sheraton. I remember the club lounge being outstanding and I would stay back here if I were in the BWI area. Free parking and only a short drive to Baltimore...

IMO, the BWI Westin is a vastly superior property and worth the extra couple thousand points to stay there for a night.

Also, I'd take a standard Westin room over a Sheraton suite any day of the week and twice on Sunday. When I'm taking an early flight out of BWI my priority is having a more comfortable bed to sleep in the night before.

I actually had a reservation at this Sheraton about 7 months ago but they were so rude that I left and went to the Westin. It was a stark difference. The staff was more welcoming and the Bar was hopping. I Guess I can see what the OP is saying but honestly i'd rather be at westin and pay more than take another gamble.
