I have the same problem. I enjoy the promos, but don't put nearly as much effort into keeping abreast of exactly what to do to not pay any penaltys.

But, if I look at all the time I would have had to spend keeping a good handle on it all over the years, I feel the penalties are worth the time I didn't spend (and wouldn't have enjoyed).

Remember, autopay is your friend.

I'm not sure why people thing it's important to match the incoming money to a specific card. If you're running close to credit limits and so on, then you should keep track, so you don't accidentally place two orders on a card that end up getting declined, etc.

But as for figuring out which ones to pay back, that has nothing to do with which cards you charged the coins to. You should pay back the ones that are due now with the money that you have. First due, first paid. It's possible for one order to leapfrog another, easily, if you get charged on the first day of the billing cycle for one card, and then later in the week you have another card go through on the last day of the cycle. The latter order will be due sooner, and there's no reason to wait and "match" that order, just swap one for the other.

If a card is due, and you don't want to pay interest, pay the card off. Hell if you have a card due, and you just haven't had time to deposit all the coins, still pay it off if you have the cash from regular earnings, etc. One's not a direct 1:1 relationship to the other. Pay the CC bills on time no matter what.

^ I could not have said it better. This game is not for everyone. I play it using my own money and pay myself back with the coins. And I push a payment to whatever cc shows it to post first. Sometimes I can time it so the payment will post on the same day that the charge transaction posts.

FYI, The Mint's site is back online and I don't see any changes to the order quantities for any of the available $1 coins.

Also, the backorder date for both NA's (2001 and 2010) is 3/14 while all Prez are showing as backordered 'til 3/22.

That is how I operate. Except I still keep track of the orders with the cards used because some of that are for meeting spending requirements for bonuses and I dont want to spend any more on said cards once the requirements are met.

As for paying the cards, I would say, pay in full before the due date, regardless where the money is from, the existing funds or the coins, just pay the card bills by due date. Period.

If one must rely on the coins to pay back one's card bills, then one is playing it a bit too dangerously, financially speaking.

Taking coins to Vegas??

Has anyone order the $1 coins and taken them to Las Vegas? I would assume that you could place sports bets or use them at the gaming table. Has anyone done so?

I cashed in a roll at my local casino cashier last night. They did ask me to unroll them though. Got some cash to throw in the machines, but actually ended up ahead.

This has been discussed at length in the thread. Casinos will usually take a couple hundred but their patience is very thin for coin shenanigans and they will cut you off quicker than a pissed off Chase branch manager. YMMV but I would never count on this being viable to distribute the large amounts of coins we need to help the Mint get out there.

I keep track of all spending by cards, but I also use the card issuer's website to see how much they think I spent, because that's the amount that really matters for bonuses.

I'm back in the game. The break was good for all my old orders to catch up.

Not sure I understand what you mean.

My records always match with what shown on the online accounts.

+1. Never have a problem.... touch-wood....

I think he means this is a mechanism to double-check his records with the banks' to make sure the YTD spending are the same/reconcile to meet the threshold for the annual bonus. I never have a problem with this part.

I was wondering what would happen if I ask them to deliver to rental property that is currently vacant. I have submitted a change of address form to USPS but this is delivered by UPS - correct?

Is there a way to communicate change of address to them as well?

This way i can increase my household limit.

Brokerages

Has anyone tried to deposit these coins at their local brokerage branch? ie Schwab, Fidelity, Etrade, Scotttrade, etc. I have a Schwab account and depositing there would be very convenient since I can then transfer to my Schwab checking account.
