IF they prove recalcitrant, I would next go to the credit card and dispute the charge.

They should refund back to your credit card. I cannot imagine that they will give you any issue on this.

Whether you get to keep any benefit from the return in regards to points, etc. depends on the card., but most cards will claw back any benefits you obtained on that purchase.

Edit to add: Rereading this, it seems you paid for this with MOs. Clever. Lots of money too. I suspect that you will have to wait until all of your MOs clear the bank and then IKEA will have to reimburse you.
Hopefully, that will be with a check and not a $28K gift card. I also suspect that you will be denied purchasing from IKEA again. However, you may be in purgatory as far as reimbursement is concerned for quite a while.
Make certain that you keep all your MO receipts, cards, and anything else that establishes your buying the gift cards. You'll need it.

Finally, as a warning to others, when going a new MS route, it is always good to do a test run with SMALL amounts of money to make certain something will not bite you in the rump
Good Luck and let us know how it went, please.

Let us know how it goes.
How did you possibly infer that they paid with MO based on their extremely confusing post?

First, this is a MSing forum
Second, anyone who pays with a credit card can get their money back if they haven't received the item purchased. Read the return link I provided for the poster at the top of my reply. I presumed initially that this was the problem but sensed that there was more than just a simple... I bought it and the company isn't letting me get my money back on a return (which isn't exactly an MS topic).
Finally, I might be wrong. If I am, no big deal. He can clear up the matter himself.

I cannot imagine how a 28k order wouldn't need managers approval before doing anything with a return.

If it was CC, thats an easy return/reversal. You were presumably still in the store the same day, so I dont think any benefits would have posted? If it was a different day, I guess something like Amex Aspire FNC would have posted but I would expect a claw back.

If it was MO, they certainly arent going to give you cash and I doubt the store can just write a check. Can you explain how this was going to play out?

I think we need more details here...

Agreed, but we need the original poster to provide them

I doubt they paid with MO's. A $28k purchase with anything other than a credit card is likely to involve supervisor intervention. 28x 1k MO's or 46x 500's would set off all sorts of alarms.

Instead I suspect it was a simple but misguided case of paying with CC to hit a SUB, which will almost certainly end in clawback

He finally did provide an answer to our questions.

Finally got the shutdown from Citi after about a ten year relationship--Had gone through most of the cards and did at least $1M of non-traditional MS last year, so not really a surprise when they gave me a call a couple months ago. Had all but a couple of my TYP points transferred out in anticipation.

A couple questions:
- Do they ever come after your points on AA? I have about 800k sitting in AA and just want to make sure they don't take those.
- Is the shutdown for life or can I apply for new cards after some period of time?

TIA

Citi does not come after your AA points since AA is responsible for them. IF AA thinks that you acquired the points via fraud, then AA will both claw back points and shutter your AA account. There is a closed thread on this.
AA accounts restricted (Nov/Dec 2019)

In regards to shutdown, DPs seem to indicate lifetime for all accounts and cards.
Given that you did 1MM (that's what I presume you meant by 1M) worth of MSing, I would say you have done very very well

Not sure if this is the right thread but any data points on getting a Citi Commercial card issued after a shut down?

I was shut down by Citi several years ago due to credit risk from large PayPal transactions and now need to apply for a Citi commercial card from my large multinational employer for T&E

Given how prevalent shut downs are becoming, Im sure someone has a data point good or bad (Ill even take Chase or Amex Corp card experience) so I can prepare for whatever might be coming my way (or just try to avoid the travel and kick that can down the road).

On the bright side, thats sounds like a perfect excuse (after a potentially awkward conversation of course) to use your own cards for corporate travel and get reimbursed

They won't award them. Luckily you're not owed too much otherwise I would go the Darr route. You're probably better off cleaning up and getting back in. I'm very surprised cycling didn't run you into problems. Maybe because your MS was less obvious. I've run multiple players with Citi and every time I've consistently been shut down after a few months sustained cycling despite spending considerably less than you (usually $100-150k CLs, spending $200-300k/statement for a few consecutive months). Now that I've gotten them reinstated I have resisted cycling and haven't run into issues. I personally believe cycling Citi is a huge risk factor but everyone has their own risk tolerance.

You got the account reopened? Or Citi approved you for new accounts despite your history?

Amazon business account closed in Canada. Used primarily gift cards bought at grocery stores and purchased products for Canada Buying Group (CBG).

All my other attempts at opening another business account using my name my CCs have been unsuccessful. Anyone know how I can open another amazon business account without it getting shutdown? TIA
