I opened P2 much more recently. Never ordered the permanent card, so been using just the "Retail Card" as One calls it. Never took any offers on that one, because they never offered anything. Probably because I never set up DD on that one, so I wasn't a "Plus member".

However, one thing I can think of is that I once sent a "One To One" money transfer (I think that's what the called it, can't access the app any more) from P2 to P1. Once they had eyes on my account, they may have traced the "One to One" payment to see who I was in cahoots with, and that put their eyes on P2 account.

This is all just conjecture of course. We'll never know for sure.

Thanks for the DP. It seems like doing anything a little sus between swapping funds between two One accounts or doing a One offer and buying a GC with stores that sell it is just a red flag. It seems like if you are going to use the One card to pay for things, make sure you are not buying a GC. Did the P2 to P1 transaction happen recently?

So, what's the skinny on your activity.
Obviously it was enough to not only get your personal account canned, but your P2 account canned as well. ::eek:

Yes going from a One temp card and transferring to a permanent card is pretty suspicious. They may look at it like you're trying to hold 2 accts and only see it from a laundering aspect instead of MS.

Seems like the best advice is not to use any of the offers on any gift cards but on an actual purchase. Maybe the DP the OP had was strictly for buying a GC at a WM but we never know. Lets say the One card offer was good for a grocery store, I am not sure if I would take the risk and buy a GC with it.

Loading with multiple cards

Probably a newb question that I couldn’t find a good answer for in my readings.

When loading $600 with 3x $200 Staples BHN VGC at a cashier using the physical One debit card to swipe, do you need to tell the cashier that each swipe will be $200 or does the POS auto drain the VGC and prompt for more payment?

I just set up an account and loaded $99 via the barcode at CS ($200 Staples VGC load failed as expected at CS/MC though I did try it). My aim is to do max loads at a normal cashier once my physical ONE card comes.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I dun fked up

I was buying a MO at WM. My last swipe failed ( error code 51 insufficient funds ) and I paid for the rest the MO with the One debit that I just loaded earlier in the day. Expecting shut down any moment now.

LOL why you do that

Panic :-( I could’ve used an Incomm/Sutton gebit or Discover debit instead but no I reached for the landmine. I’m considering just sockdrawer this thing and use it for regular stuff cause I do enjoy the merchant offers.

You don't think perhaps it's the "same address" for P1 and P2 that tipped them off instead? Also, has anybody here successfully loaded more than $100k in aggregate into their ONE acct (either with or without a shutdown)? If so, please either post back confirming so, or else PM me if you'd prefer. Thx.

So are you saying that the One card is only limited to 1 card per household by that logic? The P2 information would not be separate so they should be able to get their own card. Plus OP said that the P2 address was not verified to send the permanent card so even though in principle they can make the assumption that the address was what was stated, I don't think that would have made a difference. I think the sending of funds from P2 to P1 definitely was a trigger point to put eyes on P2's account and probably saw similar load activity.

Guidance for a newbie

First time post and user. I just signed up with the One app last week. I just bought 3 $200 MCGC from OM (BHK 511332 11/23 exp). I registered one and set the pin and waited a day. Yesterday, I went to the Money Center and asked to load the whole $200 via the barcode on the app. I said I had a debit card. I swiped, put in the pin and got an error. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact code that came up. I walked away since not pushing it was a recurring theme in the posts. Are there any glaring mistakes in what I did ( wrong GC, setting a pin, going to a MC, etc.)? I'd appreciate any pointers. Thanks.

Read more about using MCGC to load at Walmart. Otherwise you don't need to do anything to the VGC/MCGC you buy from OD/OM. You just use the last 4 digits for the pin, no wait needed.

Best not to use MCGCs for this because of the way MCGCs are coded at WMs which is default credit. Better to use VGCs for this so they always prompt as a debit requiring PIN.

Thanks. When I use the VGCs, do I need to register the card or use the last four digits as a pin like a previous commentor mentioned?
