As a test, I tried to buy a $25 VGC at my usual WM using SCO and the terminal would not let me make the charge. The cashier staffing the SCO lanes came over and told me that they did not permit GCs to be purchased at SCO lanes. Use the cashier or MC.

I was able to purchase a GC at the SCO this morning, but the card I always use was declined twice. I used another card and it worked fine. I then used the declined card at another store without issue.

In terms of the associate who said that gift cards can not be purchased at SCO's, that's left to the individual store to decide.

You can use SCO once per card every X hour/month/who knows. The limit is enforced across all WMs. You have to go to cashier/money center if you want to buy more.
No more $4.94, the lowest is $6.84. I only see two VISA version, rest is all MC.
Activation is required via phone or web before use.

agree there are few $4.94 fees left of visa even at the WM I go to. Read WM are all Mastercard with $6.84 or $7.94 fees. I am wondering if the MC can still load discover just like visa. I guess I’ll have to try and see

Did you have to get an associate to override the machine in order to purchase to card?

My associate could not even do that. The machine made the decision to reject, not the WM employee.

There is no override. You would know because there is no record of a declined transaction on your credit card account. All the SCO in my area been updated to DECLINE V/MCGC transaction. :td:

No, I am able to scan and pay on my own, without an override. However, there is one associate that scolds me when I attempt to use SCO, so I simply go to the other SCO when she is working.

Interesting, you are saying it is by the card and enforced across all WMs? So if I go to another store using the same card, it will also be declined? Hopeflly someone can figure out the time restriction. Just when I finish C1Spark Cash, the fee is increased and purchase becomes more difficult.

that is correct. I went to other Walmarts, the card was still rejected. Happened to 4 of my cards. I have no problem buying them with a cashier or MC. You would know it’s auto rejected by the system, if there is no fraud alert or declined transaction on your account. Not ruling it out, but it could also be some sort of limit per register/store. Hopefully we can find out soon.

one of my cards was rejected after buying 1k at SCO. Went to two other Walmarts SCO. Still rejected. Today it went thru for $500 at SCO.

yeah....this is all very location specific. I had no issues of the such today. To my surprise, the new $6.xx variable visas were gone(I don't even think they sold out, there weren't any blank spots where they previously were, just a ton of MC), there were a couple $7.xx visas with a flappy packaging, then off to the side with some fathers day stuff were $4.xx visas, with the bullet hole barcode but no online activation required. Bought at SCO, drained an hour later, then I bought another with the same credit card. I've never encountered these timeout rejections at SCO. The SCO terminal has a blue and gold color scheme on the screen now, but no changes in operation for me.

Yes, I can use my rejected card at MC without a problem. It seems the time restriction at SCO is more than 24 hours, at least for me.

I think it more than 24 but less than 48, perhaps?

If you find $4.94 out there. You can still buy them. I can’t buy these at SCO unless there is at least 2 days apart across all WM with the same credit card. Have to buy them with a cashier. The 1k limit is enforced, unless you go to another cashier.
