Walmart VGC master thread
 

I just noticed today, there were no Green Dot VGC in Walmart. I purchased some last week. I was able to use GD VGC I had to get some MO. Does anyone know what's going on? This was working out well for me even when all the other avenues dried up.

Two things:

1st, all the branches I've seen have a number of smaller kiosks with CGs, and one large kiosk of GCs. Sometimes the smaller kiosks don't have all the various GCs but the large one does.

2nd, try another branch before leaping to any conclusions.

I have to walk back my initial skepticism. Two of my closest Walmarts replaced all GD's with Sutton or Pathway Vanillas. The price went up by $1. If card unloading is not affected, then the price increase would be the only relevance of this change.

I usually don't freak out until I noticed a trend. What OP said its true, GD VGC have been drying up in my area, shelves are very bare. New shock coming in have been mainly Pathway (formerly Meta). Very few GD, if any at all. I haven't seen the "Visa Prepaid" version for several weeks now, now I'm buying the leftover ones like "Congrats" "Surprise" "Celebrate" "Happy Birthday" etc. I also having to buy old shock of those where you have to remove the tab first before scanning, that means these are the leftover.

I tried another branch and it is the same issue. This is the trend. something is cooking up guys.

Yup. Three locations clear of GD yesterday but all other slots on the big rack pretty full as if it’d just been formally rearranged/restocked

GD’s gone from the two WM’s near me as well. Northern DFW area.

I was traveling in January, stopped by a couple WMs, noticed the inventory was low. But you're right, seems like they're only restocking the Vanillas. *barf*

Wow. Can confirm. All gone from nearby branch.

At least they've replaced them with vanillas, which are just as good for my purposes.

I knew that snide remark was stupid hence not even bothered to reply.

Hi Folks, we have threads for Walmart Bill pay. Walmart MO etc but there is no thread for updating us on what GCs you can unload in Walmart. I believe there used be thread like this with Wiki, which I cant find. I'm visiting this forum after a gap. Please point me if there is already a thread that exists on this topic. What may have been true such as Vanillas not working in Walmart may be working now. Green Dot VGS are far and few. If WM stopped stocking GD VGC, there might be a different product that might work. MSers never give up. I know MS is on the ventilator but whatever we can scoop.

I am seeing reports of Vanillas working.

Yeah I just unloaded a ton of them today.

no single GD VGC on the rack. do notice that Secure Spending VGCs hanging there. can SS VGC be used for MO purchase as single swipe of $500?

BP or MO? which version of VGC?
