Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.
As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.
$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

When a very popular method of liquidation is eliminated, the flow goes to other less active venues....think of it like an accident on a freeway that causes the neighborhood roads around it to get clogged with traffic.
Once all these supermarkets suddenly start to get flooded with people buying MOs with "debit cards ", then the word is going to get out that something is happening and then the screws are going to be tightened in these formerly accessible and friendly venues.
How long will that take??? I have no idea but I am going to be playing my hand close to the vest when it comes to buying any GCs that require liquidation.

I think that this post illustrates my concern about SMGCs.

Simon Meta DP
- $99 swipe at WM worked this morning. $99.99, $99.98, $99.95 did NOT work. I can't remember if I tried $99.50 or not.
- I was able to load $297 on BB
- I purchased a MO for $396 via 4 $99 swipes from a Simon VGC. I paid the $.88 out of pocket since I forgot to calculate that in.

Was able to liquidate $9k of Simon VGC this morning by paying my property tax online, they all went through w/out a problem. They did charge a $3.95 flat fee for "debit card" use instead of the 2.3% for using a credit card. So just paid $996.05 (+$3.95) x9 and was done. Since WM is dead for me, the grocery stores charge $0.99 per $500 MO, so it was more expensive, but I didn't have to drive anywhere or deal with the hassle, and same return as when I bought $500 Simon VGC and loaded BB

Thanks for the DP. so up-to-date only albertson families is the only option to drain SM GC? Geez, I ordered $20K during last weekend flash promo.

Just another DP from fly-over country
Tried using $200 Staples GC at WM, failed.
Reduced the swipe to $99, succeeded.
Appears the change is systemwide
