Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.
As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.
$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

1 - go to OD, get 5x, never pay a dime for GC sounds wonderful, except how do you unload Lowe's GC unless you actually are buying something at Lowe's?
2 - how do you unload Simon Gift cards these days? GoBank won't talk to me. My card expired Feb 2020 and they didn't send a new one and now it looks like 'cash loads' may cost $4.95 (had been free at Walmart) and besides, it isn't clear that 'cash' can include a pre-paid debit card.
So, getting some giftcards to achieve spend targets appeal, but unclear how to unload either Lowe's or Simon.

OK, this was post was 3 years ago. I have been largely out of the manufactured spend for years and haven't logged into this site for 4+ years. But, back on today. I have a min spend for a credit card. Simon GC and GoBank was my preferred method 5 years ago. 2 questions:
1 - go to OD, get 5x, never pay a dime for GC sounds wonderful, except how do you unload Lowe's GC unless you actually are buying something at Lowe's?
2 - how do you unload Simon Gift cards these days? GoBank won't talk to me. My card expired Feb 2020 and they didn't send a new one and now it looks like 'cash loads' may cost $4.95 (had been free at Walmart) and besides, it isn't clear that 'cash' can include a pre-paid debit card.

The Staples cards are sold at no fee and they are Visa cards or Master Card‘s but they are sold as promotions,
my old INK Cards gives me 5X,
SM Cards are 1k so 2 swipes 4.50 not bad not like the mint but not bad for new card spend
Lowes no problem have rentals
like the MINT easy

Have not purchased in a while, I used my Citi AA business card, transaction went fine. A couple of days later, wanted to do another purchase, it stated that card was not ok.
Called Citi, all good with my card, even amount preapproved. Did not go through. Used Chase, it went through.

Just remember that large amounts of MS activity can put your credit cards and banking relations at risk.
